Is Turkey Under Siege or Is This Paranoia?

Let us leave the economic crisis aside. When we look up, we see that other very important developments are taking place outside the borders of our country, which have a very high potential to affect us. For instance, the Aegean Sea or the Sea of Islands has long since lost its identity as a sea we share with Greece, a sea that makes us neighbours.

Our people, while dealing with the small details of what is happening in our country, sometimes do not see or cannot see the risks and even threats developing in the big picture. Perhaps everything is being done to prevent them from seeing it. Due to the economic predicament our country is currently in, a large part of the people are writhing in poverty. Those who govern us cannot develop a solution beyond covering up the gravity of the situation with hamas. At least this is what the village tells us, there is no need for a guide. Of course, there are those among us who do not feel the effects of this great economic crisis because of their special positions. In fact, there is a very large group of people who are fuelled by the crisis. They have even turned the crisis into a routine and continue their lives with honey and pastry. Those who see them say 'no one is poor in this country. The roads are full of cars. Holiday resorts are full of people' literature.

Let's leave the economic crisis aside. When we look up, we see that there are other very important developments that concern us outside the borders of our country. For instance, the Aegean or the Sea of Islands has long since lost its identity as a sea that we share with Greece and that makes us neighbours. The US has now become a part of this Aegean equation. You can include most of the Aegean islands and the island of Crete in the Mediterranean. There is a US military presence in Western Thrace, building airfields and bases. The US, which refused to give us the F-35s we paid for and of which we are a programme partner, and which refused to give us even 40 F-16Vs and 79 modernisation kits, is now talking about giving F-35s to Greece. It will have already subjected almost all Greek F-16s to Viper modernisation by 2027. USA-Greece are hand in hand, playing sirtaki. And the so-called Laz henchmen who rule us think they are dancing the horon.

In our south, arming the YPG, which we call the Syrian PKK, under the pretext of the ISIS terrorist organisation in Syria, in order to fight a so-called state on paper that does not exist. The USA and Russia continue to wage a proxy war in Ukraine, but in Syria, as if they have shaken hands, they do not allow us to enter 30 km beyond the border, to build the safe zone we want to establish on our southern border, in the north of Syria, by parcelling this country. Although we say 'we can come suddenly one night', it does not even seem possible for us to enter Syria without the permission of the American-Russian axis.

Cyprus is a complete enigma. In 2004, the Greeks, who were also made a member of the European Union, continue to squeeze us through Greece on every platform in order to enter NATO. In the meantime, they are arming themselves as much as possible. Those who criticise the presence of our security forces on the island prefer to remain silent while the Greeks double the number of their troops. The Russians are kind enough to open an office to handle the affairs of Russian citizens living in the TRNC, but they cannot call it a consulate. No one wants to upset the Greeks. The world treats the Turkish Cypriots living on the island as 'stateless'. Turkey, on the other hand, despite the progress in partially recognising the TRNC in the Organisation of Turkish States, cannot make manoeuvres that will clarify the future of this country established in 1983.

Our eastern borders, according to social media, have become like a sieve. Irregular migrants from Afghanistan and other nations have started a silent invasion race in our country. Many Syrians and Afghans live in our big cities. They have created their own ghettos. They have no intention to live with us, to assimilate in Turkey, and have almost reached the stage of establishing their own small states in these ghettos. They do not hide the fact that as people who are not afraid of the state authority of the Republic of Turkey, they will be a nuisance for us in the future.

I could write pages and pages about what I have said, but the point I want to make here is that we are being besieged at home and abroad, as if in a secret plan, but in a demonstrative manner. I am an Ataturk nationalist. It is a patriotic obligation for me to strengthen the ties of friendship with those who are friendly to Turks, to develop co-operation, and to fight against those who are distant from Turks or those who make hostility to Turks the basis of their politics as much as I can. My world view is based on this.

Like everyone else, I accept that there is a network of relations between states that develop according to the conjuncture or change in the name of the new world order. If we are not vigilant, if smart and science-oriented moves are not made on time according to the new situation, if national policies and theses are not adequately explained by those who govern the country and meritorious diplomats, I think that this 'besieged' situation clearly shows what misfortunes will befall us in the near future. There are very striking examples of this in our history. This is why it is considered necessary and essential for those who are involved in politics to read history and know our history well. Because history consists of the struggle for power between nations. We all know the fate of the great Ottoman state. Try to remember the mistakes and negligence of the sultans who ruled our state, as well as the betrayals of the ulema who could not read the age correctly, the unqualified cadres and even the betrayals of the devshirs among us from the pages of history you have read.

In the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, when we could not pay the money we received from Greek and Jewish bankers and European states with high interest rates, we considered building palaces as a move that would save our reputation and hide our poverty. Intellectuals who spoke the truth were treated as traitors and imprisoned in dungeons. It can be said that no matter what we do, the heirs of the Crusader spirit do not give up their hostility to us. In a way, this thought is correct but incomplete. Undoubtedly, the common solidarity and organisation of the Christian community is behind the sieges in history. Whether we are in it or not, there is such a group that carries the same spirit and feeds on the same hatred in the genetics of all global organisations today. In fact, we Turks were subjected to similar attacks before we became Muslims. In other words, we have never disturbed anyone for no reason, but we have never left the malicious ones unpunished. Whoever was beaten by us knelt before us and begged for mercy, and when we were weakened by internal fights, they united and came at us. This should be known like this.

Today, there are many Islamic states in the world. If it were only a matter of religion, this Christian community, for example, has the power to erase the Arab community from history. We see this. But they are hardly touched. They extract oil and live happily together. So what is the offence of us Turks?

Our offence is only and only that we are Turks in essence. Anatolia is not a favourable place for enemies. The Europeans know this best, the Greeks know it, and of course the Russians know it. If they want to try, we may have to give this painful and bloody experience to the Conis and the Texan cattle herders. I believe that this nation is also capable of this, as long as they do not play with our patience.

In today's world, the hostile attitude of the US and EU member states towards us, their open support for the PKK and ASALA terrorist organisations in the past cannot be a behaviour that is compatible with neither alliance, nor reason, nor humanity. Some of us may say that the USA is not a vampire in partnership with the devil, but the devil itself. Although I do not find these labels correct, I find it wrong that the US encourages Greece against the Turks. Let's say the governments are wrong, but the Greek people are also wrong. There is no bullying by hiding behind another state. The cowards who cannot appear in the battlefield are doomed to be alone in the field of evil.

We have been tested many times in history as a nation. I think we are a candidate to face a test again. It is as if we are slowly being surrounded from the sea, land and air. The circle around us is narrowing as if we will be forced into a showdown. Of course, it is much better to share happiness in peace, to build a brotherly world and to develop a relationship based on mutual trade. Of course, war will also bring us heavy bills. Unless it is necessary, war is a madness. We will not hesitate to fight when it is necessary for us to tear the shrinking circle around us. As long as we are united, united, and most importantly, Turkish. The rest is easy.

Stay with respectful love.
