Yeşilçam Artists

How could these beautiful people, whose lives have passed with pain and impossibilities, and who could not find the value they deserve, leave unforgettable traces on us?

I Loved Yeşilçam Artists:

When it comes to Yeşilçam, I suddenly think of my dreams, passions and those past years. In our time, there were open summer cinemas, especially we waited for the weekend and asked our father, the head of the house, to take us to these summer cinemas. He would take us without breaking. How beautiful were those days. The local and foreign films watched there were told most fervently the next day, in addition and somewhat exaggeratedly, to those who did not see the film. I still remember the taste of those sodas drunk in the 15-minute interval of the movie as if it were yesterday. I can say that the majority of Istanbul's well-known sound and cinema artists come from our Karagümrük district without exaggeration. It is for this reason that I have seen and met a great majority of them.

I know closely how natural and loving personalities all the stars of that time, who had those colorful lives, were. All of them actually had a life story in their own way, both bitter and sweet. Now, after getting to know the stars of that time, I understand much better that most of those who appeared on television as stars were empty tins. Now, I would like to briefly tell you about the beautiful people of those days and the stars of today.

Where does the name Yeşilçam come from:

Yeşilçam got its name from Yeşilçam Street, which is located in an area close to Taksim in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district. Due to the fact that the offices of most film companies were located on this street before 1980, Turkish cinema was given the name "Yeşilçam" for short. The period, also known as the "Yeşilçam period", in which Turkish cinema, also known as the "magic curtain", lived its golden age, is between the years 1960-1975. Although the films shot in this period were criticized for different reasons, it cannot be denied that these films formed the basis of Yeşilçam and reflected the cultural structure of that period.

Yeşilçam has a unique, irreplaceable side that is far from imitation. Contrary to today's TV series and movies, it has managed to be remembered not only of the period in which they were shot and shown in the cinema, but also of every period, including today, and has been watched over and over again with the same interest. Opportunities at that time were limited. Information and technology are insufficient. The money paid to the players is also a small amount. Despite all these negativities, it has tried to exist with great devotion, and Yeşilçam cinema has always tried to survive, like the pine tree that never sheds its leaves in summer and winter.

Yeşilçam Keeps Films:

In fact, the public's liking and adoption of films has been the most important condition that brought out Turkish cinema and ensured its continuity. Films that appeal to the feelings and preferences of the public are the main building blocks of Yeşilçam. Of course, we should not forget the artists who were influential in talking about the world of cinema of that period with success and praise. The place of master actors who think, produce and devote their lives to Turkish cinema under difficult conditions is very different. In our eyes, they have an undiminished and timeless quality image with their modesty, unpretentious lives and their stance with the society.

Happy days, smiling eyes, our family, blue beads, Hababam class and more. Adile Naşit, Münir Özkul, Hulusi Kentmen, Kemal Sunal, Tarık Akan, Cüneyt Arkın and many more valuable and valuable artists. They still manage to make us laugh and cry every time we watch it. They instill love, kindness and beauty into our hearts. We know them by the characters they play. However, their lives are very different from what we see.

Hulusi Kentmen, in an interview, says that the hardest thing for me is to wait for the bus at the stops, trembling after the set after playing the role of a rich, fabricator man. Münir Özkul acted in the film of a production company that had no money, in exchange for only twenty packs of cigarettes and a lighter. Adile Naşit told her neighbor that she would make meatballs because there was no bread in the house and asked for stale bread. Again, if the hole in the heart of Adile Naşit's son Ahmet had been treated earlier, maybe he could have been saved. However, the money for the surgery could only be collected despite the solidarity among the artists of that period.

How could these beautiful people, whose lives have passed with pain and impossibilities, and who could not find the value they deserve, leave unforgettable traces on us?

I believe that there are some issues that need to be examined in today's Turkish television and cinema sector. As a result, people are affected by the elements they see and interact with. Although the increasing technology, capital and information increase the quality compared to the past, the main idea in its essence cannot be conveyed to the audience. We are in a time when popularity reigns and certain people are wanted to be idolized by the public. These idolized people are imitated from the way they dress to the way they speak, to their gestures and facial expressions. Interaction is inevitable and has manifested itself in every period. However, putting popularity instead of useful gains to be taught to the center will not contribute anything to that society. For this reason, the artistic values of the films should be questioned, and the thoughts and tastes of the society should be taken into account. Cultural values, which are bridges between the past and the future, should not be corrupted. As a matter of fact, a society cannot reach high levels by imitating. It should be aimed to improve the society without moving away from innovations and to show what is missing and wrong.

Conclusion:

Yeşilçam days pass before my eyes like a film strip. Each and every one of those real artists were my childhood heroes, the girls of my dreams and everything. They were the protagonists of my glittering dreams before I fell asleep at night. They are now saying goodbye to this life one by one. I wrote this post for those beautiful people. I convey my mercy to those who are gone to eternity, and my love and respect to those who are alive. Glad I met you on the big screen. I'm glad you decorated my dreams.
