If we are alive, why should we be hopeful?

Life is never stable. This is both something inherent in human nature and an integral part of our reason for existence. In fact, the "ying and yang" philosophy put forward by a Chinese philosopher explains this to us very well. The life course of every human being fluctuates between positive and negative values for a lifetime. There is evil where there is good, ugliness where there is beauty, wrongness where there is right. Everything is known and valued with its opposite in a sense. How would we know the value of the beautiful without the ugly, right? 

Our lives go back and forth like the pendulum of history in this spiral of opposites. We humans have neither the authority nor the will to slow down or stop this pendulum! Life teaches us this, internalises it. Only the chance to be at the right time, in the right place, with the right people can make the fluctuations in our lives sweet and meaningful. 

Maybe this may cross your mind. The living conditions in our country are so challenging for us that we cannot even foresee how we can spend a day well, let alone a lifetime. We live in bewilderment. Indeed, when we look at the latest situations in our country from an objective point of view, we can easily say that the economy is not good, daily life pushes people to unhappiness, the internal and external threats emerging around us in the context of security make the Turkish nation uneasy, all kinds of shamelessness in domestic politics are at a premium, the cultural and spiritual values of our country are gradually degenerating, or rather, someone is trying to degenerate and even disappear, our forests are burning, etc. We can easily say these things. 

Despite all the negativities, I believe that the only thing that can keep us alive in this life is our hope. A person without hope has no joy of life. He does not want to live. Therefore, I say this for each of us: Let's not lose hope. Because wherever hope is lost, everything loses its meaning and value and life has no meaning. That's why I say let's not lose hope. 

This beautiful country is our homeland, these lands entrusted to us by our ancestors. We must continue to stand against those who plunder, betray and burn our inherited values. If we collapse, the homeland is gone, and when it is gone, our children and grandchildren cannot bring it back. Now let me tell you a joke about this subject as much as I can remember. 

Once upon a time, the Persian ruler, who ruled in and around present-day Iran, sentenced two prisoners to death. One of the prisoners tells the ruler that if he spares his life, he will teach his favourite horse to fly in one year. Surprised by this promise, the ruler spares the prisoner's life for a year. 

Meanwhile, the prisoner, who is on his way to death, desperately tells the other that horses cannot fly and that he is only delaying his inevitable end. In a sense, he expresses his inability to understand why he is doing so. Moments later, looking after his fellow prisoner who is about to be sentenced to death, the prisoner whose sentence has been postponed for a year replies: 

"You are right. But I give myself four chances of freedom that can be realised in a year, respectively. First, the monarch can die. Secondly, the horse may die. Thirdly, I may die. Fourth, maybe the horse will learn to fly." 

Indeed, all four of these possibilities can occur in the one-year period the prisoner has earned. The prisoner may then somehow survive, except if he dies of his own accord. That, too, can be neglected, since it would be the same outcome whether inside or outside.

I believe that hope is sometimes everything in human life. Sometimes it is very little. But it is a fact that "hope" is a door for us humans. It is a door to the life we want to live. If you want to live, you never want to lose hope. In the life we have; when we open this door, we find the opportunity to see success, health, happiness, perfect communication and many beauties about life. In short, if there is hope, we exist in this world. If we exist, so does our country. If we have a country, there is the possibility of a very beautiful future for all of us, for our children and children. If we have hope, we can build a beautiful future together. We protect our homeland. Then all the troubles I have mentioned above will be shelved. Bright tomorrows will be ours.

I have full faith in the people of this country despite everything. I have never given up hope in this country, please don't either.
