Logos versus Cosmos? What does the Demos say?

The cosmos, what we call the universe. The firmament, the divine order.

We are inspired by the cycle, the whirling, and we call it the universe from spinning, that is, rotating. Since we thought that the firmament, not the earth, was spinning, I guess the word universe made more sense to us.

In the Republican period, we started to say the word space, inspired by the word "uz", which is used in the phrase "I've travelled a little, I've gone a long way". Uz, that is, far away, long away. Uzamak also comes from the same root. 

But space is a new word, while universe is mentioned in Kutadgu Bilig, dating from 1069.

The ancient Greeks, on the other hand, realised that this cycle was taking place in a certain order and called it cosmos, based on order, order, even divine order.

There is also logos, meaning word! But for those who have something to say about what is happening, for those who can interpret, logos has also become the name of science, divine laws. In a sense, consciousness! 

Not the consciousness of a single person, but the collective human consciousness that emerges from the knowledge that humanity has been able to acquire throughout history!

In other words, the divine order on the one hand, and human consciousness trying to understand the divine laws on the other.

Thinking that this divine order could not have come into being on its own, mankind has believed throughout history that deities have created this order.

However, this has never remained a mere belief.

Logos has always stepped in and tried to understand the secrets of the cosmos.

This endeavour is still continuing.

There is an order, yes, but how did this order come into being?

The divine forces said "be" and everything happened!

Yes, this is a way of escape, and a very comfortable one at that.

What do I know, brother, I was born into this order when I opened my eyes and I live in it. I'll live as long as our negligence.

And then what?

If I am not a sinner, I am told, I will go to paradise, under the trees, among the rivers and dates, my sustenance will come to me morning and evening, and I will enjoy myself all day long without hearing an empty word other than salaam.

If I am a sinner, depending on the amount and content of the sins I commit, perhaps I will be tormented for a while in hell, which is a deep pit, or perhaps I will burn for eternity in the cauldrons under which the demons throw wood, in the gluttonous and fiery fires, with no alleviation of my torment.

And where is this heaven and hell?

I don't know, it is written in the holy books that We created the heavens and the earth in seven layers!

When you believe, you don't need to analyse the rest. Because it is impossible to return from where you have gone, no one has ever returned.

If the messengers say so, it is so.

Then why has mankind done so much science and research?

There was a time when it was believed that the firmament revolved around the earth, but look, today we can go into space and we know that the earth revolves around the sun.

We have learnt a lot about the cosmos since the days when we thought that the firmament revolved around the earth.

How did all these changes happen?

Logos! The development of humanity, its knowledge, its reaching a consciousness, this is the endeavour of the demos.

Yes, there is also demos. In ancient Greek, the people, the mob! Let's give demos a broader meaning, let's call it humanity.

I don't know if it still exists today, but in the books I read in my childhood, the natives of the islands off the coast of South America accepted a rock on one of the islands as their god and offered sacrifices to that rock. The offerings were not rams and camels as we do, but they slaughtered their fellow human beings on the rock as offerings.

Yes, mankind once made offerings to the gods so that the gods would forgive him, so that they would not send thunder, lightning, lightning, or scare him with fire.

Today, we now understand the cause of thunder, lightning and lightning.

What happened to the offerings given to that rock? What good did it do?

However, on the other hand, demos is trying to solve the secrets of the cosmos with logos. 

Perhaps one day, among the secrets solved, some issues such as lightning and thunder, which were thought to be the wrath of the gods in the past, will be enlightened.

Perhaps one day it will be realised that there really are other dimensions, and perhaps heaven and hell will be found somewhere out there.

Perhaps it will be realised that both heaven and hell exist in this world, and that one can turn this world into a paradise or a hell if one wishes.

I also believe in this, that the Logos will surely triumph over the Cosmos one day.
