What the Concept of Gratitude Really Means?
Starting from the popular saying "My tongue cut me out", "complaining" is one of the most common and equally poisoning approaches today.
Gratitude is one of the sine qua non of our spiritual world:
Man continues his life on two values. One of them is material world values, and the other is a vast set of spiritual values. Now, I would like to talk a little bit about the concept of 'thankfulness', which I see as one of the most important aspects of spiritual values.
As you know, in the world of philosophy, the theories that guide humanity and the values that are the basis of spiritual beliefs are examined. The conclusions drawn from these are presented to Mankind as a philosophy of life. From time to time, human beings forget that being in this world, living and enjoying its endless blessings is a blessing. As the number of those who are grateful decreases, the number of those who complain rapidly increases. As if there is a correlation between them, the mechanism of gratitude-complaint works against each other.
Countless things can be found to be grateful for:
Starting from our immediate surroundings, our people forming the society, developing events, relationships, thoughts that form in our brains and come to life as words on our lips reflect a dark world, a dark mirror. When we think a little deeper, we realize that we owe everything, from top to bottom, to the Creator. As you know, the majority of people accept the existence of a Creator, even if they do not believe in any religion.
Every breath we take, every drop of water we drink, every color we see, the soil that feeds us, and every friend we can share our loneliness with is a blessing. These are blessings that we take for granted, because they are in our lives in some way and because we do not know their absence, perhaps because we are used to it. Since we always want more, we do not dwell on it, we do not even feel the need to be grateful for their existence.
A person who fully realizes that these blessings come from God does not want to be overwhelmed by debt. Strives to pay off. To pay is to love all living things, to help those in financial and moral need, to lend a hand to the needy, to approach all living things around with a smiling face and address them with a sweet language. To the extent that he works for the happiness, development and unity of humanity is aimed at paying off the debt, the joy of living is the expression and reflection of gratitude to the same extent.
What is Gratitude Debt?
Gratitude is knowing the value of those who do good and give blessings, and present it to those around them with joy and peace in their lives. It is to realize that the real owner of all kinds of blessings is “God”. The Earth, the Sky and the Seas, and even the depths of the earth, are endowed with innumerable blessings. In addition, human beings have been given superior abilities such as reason and thinking.
The Persian poet and Islamic scholar Sadi-i Shirazi says, "Man owes two thanks to Allah in every breath he takes." Because it is Allah who gives life, who spares his life twice in one breath. We can give thanks to him with the tongue, or we can thank him with the heart by mentioning his name, believing that he has blessings, believing deeply. We can be grateful with our actions and actions. By living according to what He wants from us and by trying not to harm any living thing, we can even turn it into an act of gratitude with the love we feel for them.
The Beauty of Gratitude:
Remembering the saying of Mevlana, "Thanks for the blessing is pleasant for the blessing", we have to accept the complaint of language sin, which is a social habit that prevents us from being grateful, as a human weakness. Here, too, starting from the popular saying "My tongue cut me out", "complaining" is one of the most common and equally poisoning approaches today.
Mankind has acquired the habit of complaining about himself if he cannot find anything from his family, children, neighbors, past and future, job, and earnings. However, the complaint is, in a sense, a lack of reason, blindness of sight. To take the easy way is to show our weakness.
Complaining Spreads Pessimism, Gratitude Spreads Optimism:
In a broader perspective, I can say that it is to look for a cover for our incompetence, laziness, lack of knowledge, habit of not reading, and worst of all, our laziness in thinking. The more pessimistic a complaint is, the more optimistic it is to be grateful. Only the goodness, goodness, joy and love of grateful people can cure the complaining, pessimistic people, their insatiable souls and the negative picture they have created. I insistently write the word “treatment” because complaints and unconsciousness increase to the level of illness a little more every day.
The further a complaint takes a person away from God, the closer thanksgiving brings him. Complaint, which is the opposite of gratitude; it fills our brain, heart and body with negative energy, almost spiritual poison. For the sake of humanity, for its happiness, for a beautiful and right future, for being closer to God, “Which one is better for us?” If you were to ask me, I would end my thoughts with "thank you" without hesitation.
Conclusion:
I think that it is necessary to read a lot and then work hard in order to understand and explain the words and concepts such as gratitude and complaint, including the words in this article. The "thankfulness" that I have described is not the motta to accept one's destiny and to settle for a cardigan or a sweater imposed by the higher mind.
What I am describing is a description and expression of a phenomenon in our spiritual world. Let's be grateful for the beauty that exists within us. Let's make an effort to reduce our bad sides. This is for the benefit of all of us.
