Krakow is one of the oldest and largest historical cities in Poland. There are regular airline flights from our country to this city. However, the option of visiting this region with a rental car is also very advantageous. Although the city has the characteristics of a typical European city, it is famous for its salt mine, which attracts tourists.

The main square, located in the center of the city, is the meeting point for tourists day and night, and the starting point for activities. The restaurants and cafes around the square always serve people in a crowded way. At the corner of the square, the brick-colored Wawel Cathedral offers a beautiful panoramic beauty to the people who come to visit with its baroque character. Although the interior of the cathedral has a very simple design, its appearance from the outside has a magnificent feature.

Wawel Castle, located at the corner of the square in the city center, is a protected site by UNESCO. The castle and many different service buildings connected to the castle are inundated with visitors, especially in the summer period. Since the castle is free to visit, the number of visitors is extremely high, it offers a crowded environment. For this reason, the castle courtyard and other service buildings, with their Italian style architecture, can prevent people from walking without colliding with each other in an extremely busy manner.

It is enough to spare 2 days to visit this city. I made such a plan for my trip to this region. On the first day, visiting the cathedral and the castle in the city center can take half a day. After visiting this region in the morning after breakfast, you should devote your afternoon to the Wieliczka Salt mine, which is the symbol of this city. You can reach the salt mine entrance by walking for about 15 minutes from the city center. If you go by car, you may have to waste time on parking.

This place, which is one of the oldest salt mines in the world, is actually like a city created underground. You can't go on your own here, which is allowed to be visited in the company of guides. This provides an environment that is both extremely dangerous and where you can run the risk of getting lost. It can be visited with an arrangement made to be a guide for every 12 people. I think this precaution has been taken due to the travel made in a narrow and cramped environment. During the visit, you will not believe how much (how many meters?) you have descended to the place without realizing it. You will be able to witness the salts still found in the mine alive and pick small samples.

All the sculptures and objects you will see are made of salt and give the appearance of glass. Towards the end of the tour, you will be faced with the cathedral inside the salt mine. It is not allowed to enter the lake, which is located a little further, and to touch its water. It is stated that this water is healing and good for the skin. When you leave the mine without understanding how your half-day was going, you will be rested in the resting area for a while to wait for your breathing rhythm to return, and you will be allowed to leave after the green teas are served.

It would be extremely beneficial to dedicate your second full day to the Auschwitz prison camp. After breakfast in the early hours of the morning, you can reach here with a journey of approximately 1.5 hours. If you do not know beforehand, if you can read short information about the Jewish prisoners sent here before the trip, your trip will become more meaningful and you will be able to experience emotional moments in some places. This is one of the biggest camps where Jewish people are kept in groups by the Germans. People here were brought here from all parts of Europe for forced labor and imprisonment.

While visiting this concentration camp, which is spread over a very large area; From the places where the bags, the clothes and shoes of the people who were brought here by force are still kept in bulk, to the areas where they are deposited and subjected to various processes by force, everywhere is toured with guides. Every detail, from the wall where the people shot were executed, to the furnaces where they were burned, are open to visitors. Since I don't feel like going into too much detail on this subject; I wish you a good trip by stating that you should examine the photos in my article and that this place must be experienced by visiting.
