Khartoum/Sudan

Where the rivers meet:

Today, I will try to give you information about Khartum, which is the capital of the Sudan Country in Africa. The city was established at the confluence of the rivers called the White Nile and the Blue Nile, and is in a green environment away from the desert environment according to the African geography. For this reason, although you are faced with sudden heavy rains during the day, temperatures of 40 degrees from time to time await you as a normal situation.

Khartoum (Khartoum), a modern-looking city in the middle of the African continent; Famous for its narrow streets and local markets, it is the commercial and economic center of the country. It is possible to find almost all kinds of products in the local markets, and bargaining is strongly recommended. Otherwise, you will be among other people who have bought the same product at very different prices.

At the exit from the city's not very big airport; If there is no transfer vehicle you have previously coordinated, taxis will meet you. Taxi drivers who, while being courteous to strangers, are not reluctant to overcharge, may ask you to pay more than you expect. For this reason, you can easily find out the average taxi prices of the place you will stay at the airport and the other places on the internet before you arrive. In this way, you will not pay more than you expect.

In terms of security, I recommend that you do not walk alone on the streets at night and take care not to have visible valuables on you. It would be more convenient for you to store your belongings through the safes in the hotels where you stay. It will be extremely useful to take your shawl-type protection clothes with you when you go outside, in order to be protected from the heat and not be affected by the sudden sandstorms. If you go unprepared in this regard, you can procure such products in the famous narrow streets and markets of the city, provided that you bargain at a very reasonable price.

The Nile:

The most important element in the social and normal life of the city is undoubtedly the Nile River. As a result of the merger of the two rivers, the Nile River occupies an extremely important place in the lives of real people. Because the Nile River has an extremely key feature in every platform from agriculture and animal husbandry to trade and tourism. It is an extremely popular ritual for married couples to go to the Nile River after the wedding for the purpose of fertility, and important and special events for people are held both on the riverside. For this reason, you may encounter such activities on the shore along the Nile River while visiting the city.

Accommodation and Transportation:

Eating and drinking opportunities in the city are offered to local people and visitors in an extremely wide range. In terms of prices, it is possible to encounter higher wages compared to Turkey from time to time. You can pay around 10 Euros for two people to eat at a regular restaurant. It can give you an idea as an average price of 1.5 Euros for a coffee with milk at the Cafe, and 3 Euros for the McDonalds menu. Internet service throughout the country is extremely slow and sometimes impossible, and it is recommended that your phone not be shown much for security reasons. Especially women are likely to have problems in terms of security alone. Renting a car is not recommended, as extremely difficult conditions await you in terms of traffic. Hospitals and health services are in an extremely inadequate condition and do not have favorable conditions in terms of hygiene.

Nile Street and the National Museum:

The place called “Nile Street” is very popular in terms of walking around the city. But don't let the popular word fool you, it is actually a walking area consisting of bridges that you will see while walking along the river at a temperature of about 40 degrees. Except for the photo shoot that will only be a memory for you, it does not have a very important feature.

However, the National Museum, located in the city center, awaits its visitors who are interested in its very large collection. You can enter the museum by paying a fee of approximately 2 Euros, and you can visit the galleries in a very warm environment in a very comfortable way. You can take a look at the extremely interesting and beautiful artifacts, especially for the Ancient Egyptian period. But for some reason, I couldn't send you a visual for this place, as photography is not allowed. You can join the riverside excursions by paying about 10 Euros by boats departing from the port area. If you want to do such an event, evening time will be appropriate, but it is highly recommended to wear long-sleeved clothes. Because mosquitoes, which are at risk of malaria, are effective at sunrise in the morning and at sunset in the evening.

Egg-Shaped Hotel:

The image of the egg-shaped hotel in the city center also has an important place in the visuals here. At night, this hotel, which is specially illuminated outside, is interesting for visitors. It is not expected that this hotel will be very suitable for accommodation, as I learned that a price of about 500 Euros per night is requested for the stay. It is considered that it would be appropriate to spare a maximum of 2 days for this city while coming here. In addition to being extremely limited for nightlife and entertainment, there is no recommended place due to the unsafe environment.

I wish you pleasant travels.
