The only privately owned Flogger in the world, MiG-23UB, N23UB, belonged to Dan Flier. Dan Flier is a former US Navy A-200 Intruder pilot with 6 carrier landings and forty-seven operational missions during the Gulf War. Today, he continues to be an airline pilot for United Airlines.

In the rear cockpit was Mark Ruff, a former US Air Force C-17 Globemaster III and current United Airlines pilot.

The crashed MiG-23 was one of the highlights of the SUN 'n FUN Aerospace Expo in Lakeland, Florida, in April, and more recently at EAA's AirVenture air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The fact that MiG-23UB N23UB/1038107 is the only privately owned MiG-23 Flogger in the world has attracted high interest and curiosity from aviation enthusiasts.
