Apple and Humanity

In religious references, they were expelled from paradise together because Eve wanted Adam to eat the forbidden apple. In fact, since the apple she bit into got stuck in Adam's throat, some people call that protrusion in his throat the Adam's apple.

Apple is a fruit identified with human history.

Apple tree grows in every geography of the world.
In the historical remains found, it was seen that the first man stored apples in the caves.
I'm not joking, crumpled apple remains were found among the food remains that the first people stored in the caves.
So we have such an old association with apples.

In our language, apple was called alma by Oghuzs. More precisely, in its first form, almıla, mıla, whatever it is, it is the al-coloured version of mılan. Of course, this is an interpretation, not definite information. There is no such thing asıla in Turkish history.
I say "apple" as used by Oghuzs, but in all Turkish languages apple is called "apple". The word apple is one of the few fruits from ancient times.

In fact, we have taken the word fruit from Persian; in the past, all kinds of fruits were called nuts.
Today, when we say nuts, we mostly understand dried fruits. Almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds... We call all these nuts.
Today, the fruits of shrub-type dwarf trees such as blackberries, cranberries, thorn currants, blackcurrants, blackcurrants, blue berries, gooseberries, blueberries, raspberries, rose hips, which grow mostly in forests, as well as the fruits of fruiting plants that grow in the soil such as strawberries, and in some places they also include figs, such fruits are called nuts.

There is a city called Almaty in Kazakhstan. It is a very beautiful city.
Almaty means the city of apples in Kazakh. It got its name from the apple trees that once grew abundantly around it.
I don't know if there are still as many apples growing there today as before, but it is a beautiful and big city.
It is the only city I know named after apples.

Can apple trees make a forest?
Yes, of course they can, can't they? You know they call them apple trees, the forest is those apple trees.
There used to be wild apples.
In Moscow, there are apple trees with tiny little apples in the parks.
There's even a novel about wild apples.
Henry David Thoreau wrote it,
The novel is called "Wild Apples".
You think that the novel doesn't actually talk about apples, you think that it must be about an event within the society, but the novel talks about a lot of apples.

Yes, there are many types of apples.
Even though we have a city famous for Amasya apple, there is not a single Amasya apple in our beautiful country.
By the way, Amasya Misket gives apple one year and does not bear fruit the other year.
Apart from this, there is, for example, the Arab Girl apple, which grows in Turkey, in the Afyon region.
Then, like Amasya, Gümüşhane also has its own unique apple.
Other cities famous for their apples are Eskişehir and Niğde.
Although apples are grown in almost every city, these are the cities famous for their apples.

Although their names are not Turkish, there are many types of apples grown in Turkey.
Brea Burn, Fuji, Gala, Golden, Goldstar, Grani Smith, Hanna, Rayka, Redchief, Roma Güzeli, Starking, Jonathan and Topaz are other apple varieties grown in Turkey.
It is also written that there are iron apple, pumpkin apple and hüryemez apple.

In fact, it is said that there are over a thousand species of apples in the world.
Also, the apple is included in the rosaceae family in botanical classification, this information was also interesting to me.
You say what can be the relation between roses and apples, but apples are included in the rosaceae family.

There are many kinds of apples growing in Russia.
Although the apples here are quite flavourless. Maybe the climate doesn't allow flavourful apples.
For example, there is Antonovka, which ripens when winter approaches. It has a bit hard and astringent flavour, but it is a hardy type of apple.
In winter we mostly buy Golden or Grani Smith apples from the supermarket, one yellow and one green apple.
I also like a juicy apple similar to our Amasya apple, but my wife says it has no flavour. So when we buy it, don't be overwhelmed, we only buy enough for me.

We have a lot of apple trees in Dacha, they produce several kinds of apples.
Unfortunately, because there are so many of them, every year more than half of them fall to the ground.
Since our apples are not of different varieties, they don't have much flavour, they are just cold climate apples grown around Moscow, they are not very durable, even if we put them in the fridge, they shrivel up after a while.
Since they don't have much flavour, my wife doesn't even eat our apples properly.

In the past, we used to make apple juice, squeeze it directly, store the juice in three-litre jars and drink it in winter.
However, pure apple juice is quite acidic. Therefore, you cannot drink it in large quantities.
Recently we have been making compote, you add a few apples and some sugar into a three-litre glass jar and pour hot boiled water over it. Then you close the lid. Drink apple juice, apple compote, all winter long.
We don't buy fruit juice from the market, we make a lot of fruit juice from the fruits that grow in the summer, and the juices we make are enough for the winter.

And lately the lady has been making something like jam from apples, it has a Russian name, but I can't remember the name of it. Something like cooked applesauce.
Later on, she made very delicious pastries with what I can call a kind of applesauce. We can also call them pastries filled with apples.
However, if the only tree in the garden is a small and hard kind of Okan, she makes jam directly.
I love the apple jam he makes.
The smell of that hard and fragrant apple spreads to the jam and it is very pleasant to feel that smell at home all winter and to taste the same pleasure with jam all winter.

In Europe they make apple pie, and I love baked apple pie.
When apples are plentiful in the summer, our girls bake apples in the oven and eat baked apples directly, they are so delicious that even I like baked apples.
Apple pie, or apple-pie as it is called in Europe, is also delicious, but there are many things to do with apples until you get to that.
We also make apple cider vinegar from apples, vinegar from our apples is also good, because our apples have a sour and astringent flavour.

Some years there are so many apples that it hurts my heart. After all, we are not going to pick them and sell them in the market, we pick as much as we can from the branches, and the rest of the apples fall on the ground and become fertiliser in such years.
When the children were little, one day they tried to sell apples in front of the dacha. They waited until the evening, and when no one came, I had to buy a bucket of apples for them.
Around here, children sell fruit and vegetables on the roads, I thought that it was just a whim, and that our children would enjoy it too, but since everyone has their own apple trees, there is no one who wants to buy apples in the summer months.
I remember some years when there were a lot of apples, I took them to the construction site to the workers. I filled the trunk of the car with apples and had them distribute them one or two at a time to sweeten their mouths. They were very appreciative. However, in recent years I can't do that either.
Anyway, we have a lot of apples one year, and the next year there are only a few on the branches. Like Amasya apples.
Now we eat as much as we can, and the rest is fertiliser for the soil.
Since we cannot make wine, there is nothing to do.
***
Yes, they also make wine from some types of apples.
I told you that we prefer to make vinegar, but how much vinegar will you make!
How many apples will you consume in a year, even counting the ones I add to salads?
You have to leave them on the branch for fertiliser.
By the way, I think there is nothing like the taste of an apple plucked from the branch.

In short, apples have been companions for us humans throughout history.
I had seen a method on the internet to produce apple seedlings from the core, we tried it at home this winter with my wife.
During the winter we had three apple saplings at home, now we took them to the garden and planted them.
Let's see, if they can adapt to the climate of Russia, in a few years we may have different types of apple trees.
Since these saplings are grown from the cores of apples we buy from the market in winter, we will soon have some really tasty apples.
As Henry David Thoreau said, I think apples can be a symbol of peace like olives, because unlike olives, apples grow in every climate.
I wish you a life with lots of apples, they have many benefits.
Love and respect to everyone from Moscow.
