we call the name of the wireless internet distributor device at home "router" or "modem", but its direct Turkish translation is "router". This translation makes no sense to me. For example, I think it would be better to say "wireless network server", "wireless network distributor" or perhaps "server" for short. Although, when "server" is said, "server" is understood as host, even TDK wrote it like that in the dictionary, maybe we should say "distributor".

Our Cost for Now is 13,655 Turkish Liras

We're after the magic formula. In our last article, our last monthly total expense had increased to 13,655 liras, including electricity, water and natural gas costs.

Unfortunately, we have not finished our calculations, we still have a few more expenses to calculate.

At the beginning of our article series, we are in the age of communication, there will be a cost of telephone and internet, I guess it would be enough to have a phone to be shown to uncles, but we said that we should not be behind the times that much.

Connecting the Internet is Now a Mandatory Need:

First, let's take a look at our home internet connection.

The monthly fee we pay for our monthly internet connection in Russia is 650 rubles. At 500 megabit speed and unlimited. Although it is not possible to reach this speed from every corner of the house, I personally tested it next to the router, this speed is more or less correct, sometimes even a little higher. The reason for achieving this speed is that the connection to the router inside the house is made with a thin fiber optic cable. If we translate it into Turkish lira, the monthly fee we pay for the internet is 196 liras and 80 cents at the current exchange rates. Since the exchange rates are constantly changing, this price may change to Turkish lira on another day.

By the way, we call the name of the wireless internet distributor device at home "router" or "modem", but its direct Turkish translation is "router". This translation makes no sense to me. For example, I think it would be better to say "wireless network server", "wireless network distributor" or perhaps "server" for short. Although, when "server" is said, "server" is understood as host, even TDK wrote it like that in the dictionary, maybe we should say "distributor".

Turkish of Technological Terms:

All of the Turkish equivalents of technological terms contain semantic confusion, their meanings are not well understood from the Turkish translations, they are not quite accurate. So we have to use foreign words to describe exactly what we mean. Those who want to use Turkish equivalents instead of foreign words usually find the direct translation of the foreign language word in the dictionary and use it, but as I said, their meanings do not fully fit.

It would be beneficial for someone to ponder a little and find a proper Turkish equivalent for all these technological products according to the requirements of the age.

Officially, this task belongs to the Turkish Language Institution. The point of view of the state on language has changed so much in our country that the institution of language alone seems to be too much. It is no longer clear exactly what he did. However, perhaps it would be beneficial to prepare a book of special technological terms from the responsible department of the AYK and distribute it to schools and the press, as Atatürk once did personally. I have not seen such a book among the published publications, maybe there is, it escaped my notice. However, I think we haven't given enough attention to this issue.

Our topic is the cost of internet connection for our homes, where did our minds go?

Types of Internet Providers:

There are many internet service providers in Turkey. Limited and unlimited internet prices vary from city to city. From 35 liras to 10,000 liras per month, yes you read it right, it is possible to have an internet connection with different speeds and different campaigns up to 10,000 liras. There is one with 10 gigabit speed, which is 10,000 lira, and one with 1000 megabit, 400 lira per month. There is also a 500 megabit one like us, 250 lira per month. But there are mostly 100 megabit rate tariffs, prices vary from 119 liras 90 cents to 279 liras 90 cents. At lower speeds, you will now have a hard time watching movies or TV series at home on TV. Many give a modem or router as a gift. Now you can choose whatever you want according to the price. But as far as I understand, we are a little behind in terms of internet infrastructure.

Let's choose the tariff, which is 119 lira and 90 kuruş for our monthly expense. Up to 100 megabits, no campaign. I think this is the most average connection for today.

Of course, internet connection alone is not completely sufficient if we want to watch movies over the internet. We also have to pay money to one of the digital platforms. But since we are a middle class family, we do not have money for such an expense for now, let's think that we will watch our series on free platforms such as YouTube, and let's not put any expenses on our monthly expenses.

We Also Take Phone:

Let's get to the phones. Let's look at device prices first, and then monthly tariffs. We will pay the device costs with a 36-month consumer loan. You may remember the loan terms our bank gave us, so I won't repeat it.

There is no longer a button phone like in the old days. The age of smartphones. My favorite phone back in the day was the Nokia 3310, it wouldn't hurt if you threw it at the wall. But I think that no one other than uncles uses push-button phones anymore. Of course, push-button phones are still being sold, but for our elders, who are over a certain age and can't see well enough, let's not look at the models with big keys, but let's buy a more modern, but economical model.

Smartphones start at 872 pounds, with the latest models even up to 41,710 pounds.

Here is the difference of producing high value-added products for you. Since this latest model mobile phone is on sale, it means that there are people in Turkey who can buy a mobile phone for this money.

Let's do this in order to better perceive a high price. We have been working for days and calculating the monthly income need, if you follow it, you know what we take into account.

I think it would be enough to say that the price of this phone is 3 times the monthly income we have reached so far.

Anyway, let's take a look at a device with a little more normal price. We're going to buy three cell phones anyway, one for a child, it might be a little cheaper, but the father and wife should buy a phone of the same quality. There are also special models for women, but for the equality of spouses, let's get the same model for both.

After a lot of research, we chose a beautiful model that costs 4,379 liras and 95 cents. We also found one for the child at a discounted price of 3006 liras, with almost the same features, only one old model and one mini version, more suitable for the child's hand. Probably enough for him. All together, 11,765 liras and 90 cents. Our monthly installment is 326 liras and 80 cents for a 36-month consumer loan.

Telephone Line, Simcard:

I think it's ok for today when we have a sim card installed.

For postpaid lines, simcard prices are 147 liras, in installments for 12 months. If you want to change the line, you also have to pay 52 liras and 20 cents. Anyway, let's get our line so that it's not changed. Three of them are 441 liras. We will pay with our 36-month consumer loan, 12 liras and 25 cents per month. Our loan installment was 339 liras and 5 cents. 340 lira straight account.

When we got a sim card, we said ok, but is it enough? No, we also need to buy a package, I guess there will be internet on the phones besides the call fee. Two 5 GB packages, 250 minutes of talk per month, 25 lira monthly price. We've started talking mostly over the internet lately. We do not use SMS either, so there is no SMS in the package, there are many messaging programs, messages are now made through these programs. That's why the internet has become a necessity. In a sense, the internet has become a human right. I think it's ridiculous that it's paid. For example, such a law has been adopted in Finland and the internet is free. In other countries, there are still those that provide free internet on a city basis. It would be nice if initiatives were taken in this regard for touristic purposes.

Although we are not at this stage yet, it is a positive development that many cafes and shopping centers offer free internet. Or there are some gift packages, you buy a coffee, they give GB as a gift. In some lines, if more internet is needed, there is the possibility of transferring to each other, or some lines give GB as a gift when you shake the phone.

That's why I think the package we chose will be enough. We can somehow get some extra gift internet traffic. At home we are already connected to the wireless network at home, at work we are connected to the network at work.

For the child, I am thinking of a 1 GB smart child tariff, the monthly price of 12 liras. The child is already connected to the wireless network at school during the day, there is no problem at home, he is connected to the network at home.

I decided on these packages, all for 62 liras per month.

We come again to the daily summary:

∆ 2,300 liras of accommodation,

∆ 8,550 pounds of nutrition,

∆ 1,820 TL installment of goods

∆ 985 lira electricity, water and gas

√ Internet for 120 lira home

   √ 340 lira mobile phones

   √ 62 TL package price

∆ Our monthly total communication expense costs 522 liras.

In this case, our monthly total income requirement increased to 14,177 liras. It is rising day by day. It started to seem to me that no one would pay that high. Anyway, let's not worry about it for now, let's continue the calculation for a few more days. When we need it, we also check the job postings together, maybe there are job opportunities at these wages.

Conclusion:

We'll have to go to work soon anyway, so let's look for a car tomorrow and our transportation expenses. If there is time, maybe we can get some clothes on ourselves.

By the way, I'm starting to get hungry, let's take a look at the kitchen, let's see what the lady is cooking today. Today, there was eggplant moussaka for dinner, I don't like it very much, but he asked for tomatoes and onions for the salad. It didn't stay in the fridge. It's raining.

Surprise, today the price of tomatoes has increased, its weight has become 12 liras and 75 cents. Fortunately, we made the calculation early, at a discounted price when tomatoes were 9 liras and 90 kurus. It means that we were lucky in terms of tomatoes that day. But there is a discount on onions today, the price of onions in the market has also decreased today, and its weight has decreased to 4 liras and 45 cents. In the calculation, we used 5 lira and 50 cents per kilo.

Prices are changing every day, some are increasing and some are decreasing, I hope our calculations will not be wrong until we finish the series of articles.

Since you're connected to the internet today, it's best for me to watch some TV when it's raining, the lady will let you know when the table is ready anyway.

Love and regards from Moscow.
