If we humans let robots do everything, what will we do?
Robotic systems are being used in everything. There are now supercomputers that draw pictures. There are also those that write novels. If you say music, don't worry, there is that too. So in the future there will be no need for humans even in these areas. So if so many things are going to be done by robots, what are we humans going to do?
Sometimes I dream that in the future everything will be done by robots, autonomous devices or vehicles, and we humans will be comfortable.
I have loved watching science fiction movies since I was little. In such movies there are always robotic systems. And there are lots of people around. But how people earn a living is not really explored in such movies.
If we are really going to have robots do everything in the future, what are we humans going to do?
I have written about my dreams before, but in these articles, I have not examined in much detail what we can actually do.
Let's think a little bit about what we can do.
Yes, I think the most important thing we will have to do in the future is to think.
But already most of us don't like to think. Why should we make thinking a job in the future?
We have enough to eat, well, we have a comfortable enough roof over our heads. Okay, let's say we have built such a life that we are enjoying ourselves. In such an environment, what are we supposed to think about?
Some of us will think, of course, and they will do new things. Aren't they doing it today?
Did you think of social media? Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others. We only know how to use these channels. And those of us who produce content are still very few today. When I say we know how to use them, we just look at them.
Do you think you will need to work in a factory in the future? In the established order, in dark factories, as many products as needed will be produced by robots and put at our service.
What about agricultural products? Will there be a need for farming tomorrow? Whatever is needed will be grown by robotic systems and perhaps given free of charge to feed humanity.
Energy? Perhaps all the energy will come from the sun. Maybe in nuclear reactors. As much as needed. Again, humanity will probably have as much energy as it needs without paying any fees.
But we will at least have to engage in music, art and literature. Yes, maybe, but how many of us will be engaged in such things?
And even today, robotic systems are being used in these fields. There are supercomputers that draw pictures. There are also those that write novels. If you say music, don't worry, there is that too. So in the future there will be no need for humans even in these areas.
So if so many things are going to be done by robots, what are we humans going to do?
If I say we're just going to lie down and enjoy ourselves, how far will we go?
But all these systems will be built by humans, engineers, technicians!
That's a fact, but there are so many people. So what if they are all engineers and technicians. Do you think that in the future computers, or more accurately computers with artificial intelligence, will not be able to produce these systems in a more efficient working order than engineers and technicians?
How much will engineers and technicians be needed in the future? I don't think they will be needed that much.
Doctors? Even today, with the help of technology, some surgeons have started to perform very fine surgeries. Tomorrow, artificial intelligence will be used more frequently in these areas as well. In other words, we will leave our health in the hands of robot doctors with artificial intelligence in the future.
As I think about all these issues, of course, the difficult question comes to mind.
Do we need all these people in the future?
What will all these people do?
Believe me, I am not the only one thinking about this question.
Let me share a memory with you.
Kuleli was over and we went to the first military school camp in Menteş.
There was a holiday during the camp. I think it was the Feast of Sacrifice.
Naturally, due to the holiday, standard training was stopped and we were allowed to rest in a free order after the classic morning sports.
Since it was not normal for us to rest in such a free order, we were asked to dig round stones from the sea and arrange them around the dining hall.
After I dug stones on the first day, I left the group with a friend to paint the land market in the commander's room.
But I think a week later, they had all the stones that had been arranged around the dining hall collected again and added to the sea.
What kind of logic? Take rocks out of the sea, then dump them back into the sea. Just to keep you busy.
I guess I don't need to criticize this memory that has remained in the back of my mind after all these years. Maybe it was the right decision. Maybe it wasn't.
I will say that, no matter how absurd the instruction was, there was something essentially right about this instruction of our commander that day.
But it still haunts me, of course, I think I would have found something else. Maybe I would have planned something more useful, like planting trees, and I would have made the necessary preparations in advance. After all, it was clear from the first day that the holiday coincided with the camping time.
Anyway, it's just something in the memories. There are many more memories of those days, I remember I even wrote some of them down once upon a time.
The moral of the story is that human beings cannot be set free, they have to be busy with something. There is even a proverb on this subject, saying that the working iron shines. One falls into emptiness if one does not do something.
Believe me, I don't know exactly what kind of work will be found for all these people to do in the future, but the way things are going, this problem needs to be solved.
I say problem, because maybe not today, but in the future it will definitely be a problem.
Thinking, generating ideas, it seems that this will really be our most important job in the future.
Since not everyone can think and come up with ideas, I think we should already start thinking about what all these people can do.
You start thinking, today is Sunday, let me rest for a while and then I will join you.
Love and respect to everyone from Moscow
