The Effect of Earthquake on Our Hormones

Now, in many parts of the society, different emotions are at their peak because of the earthquake disaster. We have all become very emotional and our social reactions are also very high because of the gravity of the situation.

How is your adrenaline level right now?

Some of us like to seek excitement. In fact, everyone loves excitement, but let me say that some are a little more addicted.

Adrenaline is a chemical, an enzyme, a hormone that our body secretes when we feel excited.

There are those who are addicted, some are constantly looking for excitement. I have friends who are addicted to motorbikes, who knows how many accidents they have had, they have no bones left unbroken, but they are still on the motorbike.

For example, what excites you?

Let me start with the simplest. Do you remember when you learnt to ride a bicycle?

That first moment, the moment you said you could ride!

Do you remember? Still, most of us fell down after a while anyway.

But the pleasure of being able to do something and the excitement of that moment! Isn't it worth everything?

Similar examples can be multiplied.

I remember one day when I was very happy, I hit my friend's shoulder with a punch and then I had to listen to his reproach for a week.

So sometimes there are moments when we cannot control ourselves when our adrenaline rises.

It is as if the body takes control and does what it needs to do at that moment to keep itself alive.

There are moments when we do something with our instincts without using our brains, usually when our adrenaline rises.

So, does our adrenaline level rise only when we are excited?

No, fear is also one of the emotions in which the body secretes adrenaline.

Whatever it is that we are both scared and afraid of, our body prepares for that threat by secreting adrenaline. But it's more of a preparation for getting on our toes and taking a heel. In other words, an excitement mixed with fear.

Adrenaline is addictive, so many of us like to be scared and watch horror films at the same time.

In a sense, it is a state of being in love with the executioner.

Now, different emotions are at their peak in many segments of the society due to the earthquake disaster. We have all become very emotional and our social reactions have increased considerably due to the gravity of the situation.

I am not only talking about the rising voices in the stadiums, our reactions to everything can be very harsh. Especially in disaster areas.

I watched a woman shouting "we want water, water!" on the internet. To hell with your food aid, she cries out with anger, "Bring water first". I guess they said that water aid is over now. But they haven't turned on the water everywhere in the city yet.

Yes, this is another hormone, cortisol. It is secreted in times of anger.

Cortisol is actually the hormone that gives strength in difficult times. It helps break down body fat and utilise it as food.

That's why people who are very nervous are very thin.

This is a positive side, but living in anger is very damaging to the body. It impairs the immune system.

That's why the ancients said that sharp vinegar is bad for the pot.

I think the hormone we need in these difficult days is dopamine.

We need to calm down. We need to do things in a planned and programmed way, concentrating on what we are doing calmly. Especially in these difficult days.

There may be those who intend to increase the adrenaline and cortisone levels of the society. Our fears may have increased our adrenaline levels on their own. It is certain that our experiences have increased the cortisone level.

Especially in Istanbul, people started to think about what we would do if such an earthquake happened in Istanbul.

Yes, in a possible Marmara earthquake, Istanbul would really be destroyed in its current state. Unfortunately, the houses we live in are not reliable houses, especially in Istanbul.

So maybe we should really take the risk to spend a little bit.

It is urgently necessary to start urban transformation as it really should be this time.

For this purpose, first of all, those living in the city have to have the buildings they live in checked.

The result of this check is like gambling in a sense!

If our building is not earthquake resistant, what will happen to us will be really scary, that's for sure! But at least the building will not be our coffin!

Therefore, the state will really need to make some new regulations on these issues. I have written before, I had some ideas. Let me not repeat it again. Those who are curious can look at my articles.

But those at the head of the state, that is, the rulers, are in no mood to deal with such things these days.

On the one hand, their adrenaline levels are high out of fear due to the winds of change, and on the other hand, their nerve coefficients are high against the reactions to their incompetence after the earthquake. In other words, their cortisone levels have also increased.

But most of all, their hostile behaviour towards a part of the society for a long time shows that the noradrenaline hormone levels of those in power are quite high.

This is a hormone that makes us feel like fighting. The hormone that makes us feel hostile! Maybe that's why they say unspeakable things to the society, or at least to a part of it, at random.

In short, we are under the influence of our hormones, but we need to calm down as a society.

They say that whoever gets up in anger sits in harm's way.

Calm down, please! May you all have plenty of dopamine.

I send my love and respect to everyone from Moscow.
