What should we expect in 2023?
There is nothing positive about the law, the economy or living standards. The coffers are full of dry copper. There is no artistic development in the country, no literature or anything else that we can be proud of.
We all have our own dreams for what we want to do this year.
Last year, things happened that we really didn't want to happen. The previous year was not easy either, or even the year before that.
Have you noticed that in the last few years, something has been going wrong in our lives?
First, the pandemic had a big impact on our lives. It would be a lie to say it didn't.
Then the government's senseless economic experiments and their bad results.
Immediately after that, records. When I say records, I am referring to the records broken in inflation and the cost of living, in foreign currency prices. We are playing from the bottom to the top in almost everything in the world.
Neither in law, nor in the economy, nor in living standards, nothing positive is happening.
The coffers are full of dry copper.
There is no artistic development in the country, no literature or anything else that we can be proud of.
If it weren't for the women's volleyball matches, which I like and follow, we wouldn't have any serious success even in proper sports. Of course we have some athletes here and there, but most of them are on an individual level. For some reason, we have not been able to achieve a proper success in a team sport. I can say that even in the last Olympics we failed. We couldn't even participate in the World Cup in soccer.
Have I painted too pessimistic a picture?
I could have been more pessimistic. After all, I think we are all aware of our situation. I'm not making it up. Everything is obvious.
There are many more things I haven't written. The refugee problem alone is a separate problem.
Of course, we are proud that the Karabakh conflict has been resolved to some extent, but don't forget that we also suffered a lot while that conflict was being resolved. War is war, and even if the outcome is good for us, the fire burns where it falls. So many warriors were martyred, who knows how many were wounded and maimed. For the rest of their lives, they will feel proud, but at the same time they will feel incomplete.
So, how do you think this year will go?
It is certain that the economy will not be able to recover, the government's tightening of the purse strings will cause the spiral to go one step further and prices will continue to rise. Hikes have already been announced in many areas.
I don't know how long wage earners will feel a little bit comfortable with the increases in wages at the end of the year. Prices of everything are increasing in the market before the increased wages are in the pocket.
They said EYT, everyone was happy, but the law has not even been passed yet. The law will be passed, it will be calculated, it will return to salary, it will have a contribution. Who knows how long this issue will continue. Who knows when people will get a tangible return.
Of course, the government will announce some surprises, but it is not clear how much each surprise will actually touch the citizens. Perhaps many of them will remain in words.
There was a time when politicians used to go to every city to lay a foundation. If all those foundations had turned into a visible facility today, there would be neither unemployment nor so much hardship in the country. It was all lies, of course, and even the foundations for show are no more. They were all political stunts. Deception. Eye-candy.
Promises, promises. What promises this country has heard, someone even promised two keys. Then he caused the biggest economic crisis this country has ever seen. Then he had to pack his bags and leave the political scene.
This year the country will have another election. I hope the elections will be held safely and the country will be put on the right path without any problems. I don't want to bring bad things to mind, but I have a feeling that these elections will not be easy. The government is already scheming by using all the state power. What has been done so far is sad enough. I hope we will not see worse.
They are doing such things that sometimes I wonder if they have no conscience at all. Yes, I am talking about elderly people who have been imprisoned. I don't say soldiers, I say people, because they are human beings. Some of them have dementia, some of them have who knows what illness. Even though they may have done wrong things at the time, no human being deserves what has been done to them. If you call people of that age criminals, you can just take them out and put them under house arrest. After this age, they don't have the strength to step out of the house.
But no, this is such a grudge that even the release of coffins from prisons cannot remove this grudge.
In this country, even the chief of the general staff was once imprisoned. Those who did this fled the country. But the mentality has not changed.
The crime of those in jail? In my opinion, they love their country too much.
Of course, it is a crime that they intervened in the country's governance, which they thought was going in the wrong direction, with the conditions of the day. I think they were wrong too, but I think the punishment they deserve is not their coffins coming out of prison. They just thought wrong, they did wrong. They made a mistake.
If you ask them, they themselves would admit that they were wrong.
This grudge has to end now. Whatever you call it, what has been done to them is inhuman.
There are many people in prison who have been wronged by this government. Everyone will need justice one day and I will close this subject for now.
Yes, as I said, the most important development of this year will be the elections. Let's see what more we will see on this issue with below-the-belt strokes.
The opposition? We are following them closely as well. Aside from the vicious discussions about candidates, I hope that they will come up with more concrete issues in the near future.
Let's see what kind of organization they have prepared for the elections.
Will their preparations be enough?
Will they convince people that they are the hope for the future of the country?
I think people will not be convinced enough just by their intention to change the system. Anyway, changing the system of governance depends on other things. At least it is not yet clear whether they will be able to get enough MPs for this change.
So I think I would focus on other things that the nation needs besides system change.
What do people expect? What is it that the current government cannot do? Or what they are doing wrong?
I think the priority should be to correct these mistakes. Not with very technical explanations, but with simpler explanations. In a way that even I can understand.
Anyway, we will discuss these issues enough in the coming days.
Let's end this article with good wishes for this year.
First of all, I would like to see a settlement of the war in Ukraine this year.
Some talks have started, but I would also like to see a reasonable agreement with Syria.
I would also like to see a sensible end to the events simmering in the Sea of Islands. This issue seems to be getting more complicated, but I hope that a solution will be found to the problematic issues with Greece before it gets more complicated.
Speaking of which, I would have liked to see some developments this year on the Cyprus issue, which has not been resolved for years. At the very least, it is long overdue for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to become a recognized state in the world.
I came across Kurdish music on a channel today. I am actually used to it from Russia, where there are many different ethnic identities. Each region has its own channel and language. Of course, the national channels always broadcast in Russian, but nobody is bothered by local channels broadcasting in different languages.
The conditions of our establishment and geopolitical position are different, and our state structure is different. We are a unitary state.
However, one of my wishes for this year is for the government to put an end to its policies of marginalizing the Kurdish identity. If you support me, fine, but if you are against me, then you are a terrorist.
I also have a few words for our brothers and sisters of Kurdish ethnicity, if we dream of a future together, ethnic politics is not the way to do it. It is clear what those who have caused so much suffering to this country want. You will cut ties with those who think like this and condemn terrorism. And then, if it is politics, there is the parliament, and you will seek the solution for your problems in the parliament. So I want to say, make a decision now.
Yes, for this year I wish that our brothers and sisters of Kurdish origin will also become aware of living in this country in brotherhood.
I have many wishes, but I think these main themes are enough for now.
By the way, let me say one last wish before I forget. I think this last wish is the most important of all.
May this year bring good to everyone.
Love and respect to everyone from Moscow.
