Who are these Luxembourgers?

Luxembourgers have their own language. It is called Luxembourgish, but German and French are also official languages in the country. Luxembourg is one of the BeNeLux countries, and as the name of this union suggests, this tiny country has a very comprehensive cooperation with Belgium and the Netherlands.

Luxembourg is a tiny country in Europe.

The whole country is 2586.4 km2. It is even smaller than many of our small provinces.

I think only Kilis has a smaller area than this country. I think Bartın and Yalova are also smaller.

But as I said, Luxembourg has a smaller area than Osmaniye, Iğdır, Bilecik.

Okay, I found it, it is a little bit bigger than Düzce. It has almost the same area as Düzce.

Its population is 645,397 people according to 2022 estimates. I don't know why they called it an estimate if they gave such precise information, but it has the population of the cities with an average population, except for the big cities in our country.

For example, Adıyaman has a slightly smaller population than Luxembourg.

Çanakkale is more or less at the same level, but less. Batman and Elâzığ are more or less in the same situation.

But Afyon, for example, has more population, Afyonkarahisar.

Even Erzurum has more population. Ordu has more.

The country's annual gross national product (GNP) is more than $90 billion. It is quite low compared to Turkey, like nine times, but let's not forget, we are talking about a tiny country. Ankara, for example, has 10 times the area of this country.

The annual GNP per capita is more than 140 thousand dollars. On a monthly basis, each person, whether a baby or a pensioner, is $11,700.

This value means that on average, a family of four has an income of $46,800 per month.

The form of government is called parliamentary monarchy. So it is actually a kingdom. But they have no king. Henri is currently the head of the royal family with the title of Grand Duke.

The prime minister and two deputy prime ministers are in charge of the country's administration.

Luxembourgers have their own language. It is called Luxembourgish, but German and French are also official languages in the country.

Luxembourg is one of the BeNeLux countries, and as the name of this union suggests, this tiny country has a very comprehensive cooperation with Belgium and the Netherlands.

I'm not going to go into its history or anything like that.

I think it would be enough to say that it joined the United Nations on October 24, 1945.

After being under the Dutch yoke for many years, it was then occupied by Germany for a long time. After the Second World War, it was liberated from Germany and joined the United Nations as an independent country.

So what is the magic of this? Why is this tiny country so rich?

How is it that this country, which would not be able to maintain its independence if you blow on it or flick it with the tip of your finger, can live so richly in the middle of Europe? After all, it doesn't even have an army. So what if it does, how many lives does it have?

First of all, the country has a very high rate of patent applications every year.

It has a significant share in steel production worldwide compared to the size of the country. In the 50s and 60s, it was even in the top 10 in the world. Even today, although it no longer has that kind of power, it still has an important place.

Of course, it is not possible to be so rich with this population. Even though it can do very good work in industrial and various chemical substances, the issue is related to finance.

Therefore, the main source of this wealth is finance, that is, banking. After Switzerland, it is the second most important country in Europe in terms of banking.

It is also the second largest fund center in the world after America. From mutual funds and pension funds to whatever funds are established all over the world, almost all of them have established their central management in Luxembourg.

Some of the digital giants like Amazon and Skype also have their financial centers here.

This means that the Luxembourg state offers very good conditions to organizations in financial matters, especially with low taxation.

And in the end, they reap the benefits.

Only financial institutions? No, global insurance companies have also established their headquarters here, the secondary insurance companies we call reinsurance. These are also companies that are actually related to finance.

In addition, high-tech companies have also found a suitable environment for themselves here.

I think this is enough. I don't think such large financial opportunities could have been given to such a small country on its own initiative. So it is a matter of preference. This tiny country has been transformed into a needed center for Europe and the big countries in the world, especially America.

If such a choice had not been made, perhaps it would have been a city-state living on its own with the small amount of iron reserves that can be extracted within its borders.

But it has become a favorite of capitalism, and as such, it is swimming in wealth.

Here is the rich Luxembourg state.

Love and respect to everyone from Moscow
