The 10-Year Crisis in the Turkish Economy and its Impact on Eid al-Adha

The economic crisis is felt in every aspect of life.

At the end of the centenary year of the Republic, according to TÜİK, the inflation rate is 96 per cent.

The feast of sacrifice is also affected.

For example, the number of sacrifices has decreased by 20 per cent compared to last year.

This crisis is no smaller than the April 1994 crisis.

It is deeper than the millennium crisis of 2000 and 2001.

The 2008 economic crisis is nothing like it. It is perhaps the precursor of the property crisis.

The currency and debt crisis of 2018-2023 resulted in the highest current account deficit and foreign currency debt in the history of the Republic.

However, what makes this crisis different is that it will be called the crisis of the decade.

Because it is clear that high inflation and stagnation are heading towards stagflation.

The austerity measures taken do not have the power to ensure fiscal discipline immediately.

The almost three-fold increase in public employees in 20 years and the number of retirees approaching 16 million with EYT may render the measures taken only in the private sector ineffective.

Moreover, the salaries of pensioners in our country have decreased by 34 percent in contrast to the pensioners of European countries, whose salaries have increased in the last decade, and there is great dissatisfaction. Without Bulgaria, we would be at the bottom of the 32 countries...

PER CAPITA INCOME HAS NOT INCREASED FOR TEN YEARS, OUR NATIONAL INCOME HAS FALLEN BACK TO WHERE IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO

The national income per capita was close to 13.000 dollars in 2013. It ranked 66th in the world.

This was 1,500 dollars above the world average. In 2023, it is in the same band.

But it is 500 dollars below the world average. And it has fallen to 72nd place.

Moreover, if the millions of refugees and immigrants who are not Turkish citizens, as predicted by Mahfi Eğilmez, are added, a national income of around 10.000 dollars is generated.

This means a national income 3,500 dollars below the world average and a fall to 82nd place below Brazil.

If the suppression of the dollar is added, the gravity of the situation increases even more.

We will have to rejoice that we have entered the first hundred.

It should be questioned what is the place of the unjust liquidation of the trained personnel of the state in this.

SACRIFICE PRICES INCREASED, SALES DECREASED

This part of my article will be based on experiential information obtained and observed in the course of life. If anyone asks, "What was the crisis of ten years like?", they can find sections of the events that took place.

Sacrifice prices increased close to the perceived inflation. It increased 88-100 per cent compared to 2023.

The number of victims fell by 20 per cent.

The practical intelligence and adaptation process of the Turkish people should also be mentioned here.

Sacrificing a sacrifice is not only a financial worship, but also a physical fatigue when you sacrifice.

There is an economic aspect to slaughtering and donating sacrifices abroad; it is at least one and at most four times cheaper than in Turkey. It is also not physically tiring. The economic crisis is transforming the sacrifice from local to global.

In addition, it is also nice to have a clear conscience when it is thought that the sacrifice finds its place and goes to poor people such as Afghanistan or African countries...

Children love the holiday money and presents.

But sacrificial meat is too raw for them and they don't like the smell.

But this new method creates a deprivation in them.

The solution is simple again.

Buy the children quality barbecue products from the supermarket, processed and without the smell of fresh meat, with the money saved by the new sacrifice economy.

PRIVATE SECTOR CRISES

The crisis is felt one hundred per cent.

The private sector does not expect the crisis to end in a short time.

Lack of hope is the deepest crisis.

He says that this year is over, but it will not get better next year.

It is enough for the wheel to turn.

It does not expect profit.

State inspections have also become visible.

Everyone points to the end of 2027. He says that if the election is in 2028, only the taps will be opened for the elections.

This gives the government the opportunity to go to the elections with an improved economy and the opposition the opportunity to take over an improved economy. The buyer is willing and the seller is willing.

That is why this crisis, which started in 2018, is called the 10-year crisis...

Let me conclude my article with a few anecdotes.

A wholesaler in GİMAT, whose smallest transaction is one hundred thousand TL, says "I have not made a single sale for 20 days".

Five neighbouring white goods branches with corporate brands both console and confirm each other by saying "we are far behind compared to last year".

Big carpet manufacturers in Ankara are gathering for a common strategy against the crisis.

Bank loans have increased a lot.

When 9 instalments are made to credit cards, banks confiscate 20 per cent of them.

Tax champions will be the banks again.

Most of the bank owners are foreigners.

The surplus value of production will go abroad.

Paying foreign debts also means that the surplus value goes to foreign countries.

With billions of dollars of new foreign debt, the dollar exchange rate has also been suppressed.

We are not at the beginning of the DECADE CRISIS. But the end is far away.

If the taps are not opened, the shutters will close during the day.

This crisis is very deep.

Because the cause of this economic crisis is based on rights and law...

"A new programme is needed. The concepts of rights, law, justice, freedom, democracy, transparency, accountability and control should be the first line of the programme." (Nur Keyder)

It is precisely in these areas that restoration is needed: 'Let's enforce the law'

A crisis of legal origin ends with the application of the law. Because the cause of every crisis is the deterioration of the environment of trust.

And the emergence of this crisis is the crisis of confidence caused by the non-implementation of the law.

Happy Eid al-Adha.

The foreign donation has caused the neglect of the inner children.
