If it is breathing, it means it is alive

In a news article in 2021, it is mentioned that the person with the Guinness record for holding his breath underwater is Croatian diver Budimir Buda Sobat. Sobat broke this record by holding his breath underwater for 24 minutes and 37 seconds.

What happens if a person's heart stops beating?

He dies, what else?

But the heart is an organ that only circulates blood in our body. It's a pump.

What will happen if it stops for a little while and there is no blood circulation?

Our blood essentially distributes oxygen to our cells. The oxygen required for the food burnt in our cells is then transported to our lungs to be excreted from the body as carbon dioxide with our blood.

Our blood naturally carries the nutrients needed by the cells to the cells.

I won't go into the other functions of the blood, but I think you can wait for a certain period of time for nutrients.

Well, if you can wait for nutrients, you can wait for oxygen.

So, the heart's stopping for a certain period of time should not be of much importance in terms of life functions.

But the opposite is the case!

When the heart stops, life ends!

A news from 2019, Mr who stopped his heart for 20 minutes after a heart attack, came back to life!

Look, after 20 minutes of cardiac arrest, it is still possible to come back to life!

In another news report, it is even mentioned that there are people who were brought back to life even one hour after their heart stopped. In this news report, it is also mentioned about the malfunctions in the brain functions of those who came back to life.

I think our brain is the organ most affected by the cessation of blood circulation in the vessels!

One source says that the brain is one of the most metabolically active organs of the body.

Large values in oxygen consumption confirm this. There is information that the cerebral oxygen consumption of a normal, awake and young person is 3.5 ml/100 gm/min. I do not fully understand what this means, but in the same source it is said that the oxygen consumption of the whole brain tissue (1400 gm) is 49 ml / min.

Does this information mean that the brain is in constant need of oxygen?

But look, in the news article I wrote a little above, the patient whose heart stopped, nothing happened to his brain even without getting fresh oxygen for at least 20 minutes! In other words, including the brain, it seems that we do not have any organ in the body that immediately stops all its work and deteriorates due to lack of oxygen.

By the way, there is such a thing as cerebral metabolism, as far as I understand, it is a system related to the atria of the heart, which meets the energy and oxygen needs of the brain.

There is a lot of scary information on the internet about what happens in the body after death. I don't want to go into details in this article, but my understanding is that we should not give up on life so quickly.

Look, even if our heart stops, it is possible to restart it even after half an hour.

There are some divers who can hold their breath for quite a long time.

A normal person can hold his breath for 42 - 49 seconds. It is accepted that the capacity of the lungs of those who can hold their breath above this is quite high.

In this regard, there is talk of a test called a home breath test, I think it is a test on health.

In a news article in 2021, it is mentioned that the person with the Guinness record for holding his breath underwater is Croatian diver Budimir Buda Sobat. Sobat broke this record by holding his breath underwater for 24 minutes and 37 seconds.

In other words, although the blood circulation continued because his heart did not stop during this period, the oxygen content in his blood must have dropped considerably for such a long time.

Breathing is also recognised as a necessity of life.

However, there are records not only for us humans, but also in the animal kingdom.

Whales, for example, can stay underwater without breathing for up to two hours. It is written in written sources that this period is 10-15 minutes for dolphins.

However, the record in this regard is in water turtles, water turtles can stay under water for 24 hours without breathing.

Of course, there are many different life forms, there are creatures that live at depths of thousands of metres of water and continue their lives even in environments where these resources, including light and oxygen, are almost non-existent.

There are also creatures that have no heart at all. Jellyfish can be counted among these creatures.

On the contrary, there are also creatures with more than one heart. For example, eels have three different hearts besides their main heart. I think cuttlefish also have three hearts.

Creatures living underwater have organs called gills, through which they can take in oxygen from the water.

We and creatures living on land like us obtain oxygen by breathing with their lungs.

There are also creatures that respire with their skin, amphibians, which can live both on land and in water.

In short, life has come to this day with a very rich development. Perhaps one day life may evolve into a completely different life form.

Maybe one day a way will be found to extend our life spans sufficiently.

The subject started from a question that came to my mind and went to where.

We live and go on, some people are ambitious, they get caught up in absurd dreams. There are also those who think that all people should live the way I want.

I think they are all empty thoughts. Let everyone live the way they want.

Look, even if the heart stopped, there were even people who came back to life after half an hour, so everyone has their own life span.

I wish everyone a life as they wish.

With love and respect from Moscow
