Happy Children's Day
I did some research on why Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk thought of gifting a holiday to children. I still haven't found the exact reason. Of course it is very meaningful, his love for children is generally understood. Actually, what I was curious about were the details. I wonder what made him think of this. Why did he think of such a thing and not someone else?
I took a look at the article I wrote last year. I wrote a lot of things. Those who are curious can look in the archive.

This year the holidays were intertwined.
Both an environment dominated by the elections, the fact that it fell on a Sunday, that the parliament was closed, and that the pain of the recent earthquake has not yet passed.
In short, all the negativities have come together to celebrate today in an almost festive mood.
Not to mention the economic difficulties in the country.
What stuck in my mind more was the pain of our young Cypriot sons who were caught in that earthquake in Adıyaman. Famagusta Turkish Maarif College students were in Adıyaman for a volleyball match and the hotel was destroyed at night. What a painful situation.
However, which matches they had the next day and with what hopes they went to bed in the evening. They had come all the way from Cyprus, they were playing sports. And the sad end! All of them, including their teachers, perished under the rubble.
All from the same college, all from the same city. All the families probably knew each other. Can you imagine how sad it is for the whole city? We couldn't save any of them.
Now the "Champion Angels Monument" is being built to keep their memories alive.
But this holiday was their holiday. Maybe they would be proud of the trophies they won with their heads held high.
But they didn't, they became angels.
There are many children in the earthquake region who are left without parents. Does anyone realize what kind of trauma those children are going through?
Until yesterday they were in the embrace of a mother, the affection of a father, today they are in a tent, maybe alone. Or can you imagine how they have been brainwashed by whatever sect they are in?
Even the children whose families have survived are in a difficult situation. They had to live in tent cities in mud, rain and floods. Those beautiful children who have to wait in queues for hours for a meal, who have to go to makeshift toilets to relieve their needs, who can take a bath maybe once every ten days if it is their turn.
We are in the second century of the Republic and because of the mistakes we have made nationwide, those children now have to live in this humiliation.
Can you say to those children that you cut off that arm, you built that building with sea sand, you asked for the zoning amnesty?
Are they to blame for what happened?
But now they are condemned to a life in those tents.
I don't know how much they realize the defeat of the situation with their child minds.
Yes, today is April 23rd, another feast day.
But for some reason I don't feel any holiday enthusiasm.
I want those who caused this to happen to leave their seats as soon as possible and let those who know how to govern this country take their place.
Maybe next year we will celebrate all our holidays, including April 23rd, as we should.
Forgive me for this year, I really don't feel like celebrating a holiday.
Ask the children in the earthquake cities, or the Famagusta families who lost their children. If they want to celebrate, I will join them.
Even around the world, celebrations are being planned in various countries. So maybe it may be necessary to celebrate with enthusiasm without demoralizing.
Love and respect to everyone from Moscow
