Reflections on Turkey, the Turkic World Century and GAMOH

Continuity, the ability to survive without collapsing no matter what, self-sufficiency, the slogan of being a "state-eternal-durable", in short, is one of the sine qua non of the Turkish-Turkish World Century. Can this phenomenon be limited only to the geography or phenomenon of Turkey? It is not possible. It cannot and should not be. This is such an expansion that it is not a Turkey that has not even reached the borders of Misak-ı Milli, but a road map that covers the fortification and consolidation of the entire Turkish World. Yes, can this perspective be seen as a project? Of course, it can.  This project is also another name for building a "Common Future" for the Turkic World. The Century of Turkey is also the century of peace to be built for the Turkic World. For the sake of independent integrity, it is an achievement that makes an important contribution to the consolidation and strengthening of the common values created, rather than initiative and division. It is an act of reasoning that presents our common values, the guarantee of cultural and social harmony, as a compass for those who feel Turkish. It is a system of thought that does not allow for stagnation or regression in the Turkish-Turkish World Century. It is ambitious. 

All actors of the Turkic world must find a place for themselves in this project, there is no room for insecurity, they must find a place. In a sense, this is the Unity of Central States, which means the sharing of common values in the Turkic World. Undoubtedly, the actors of international relations have been nation-states since Westphalia, but the 'Declaration of the Samarkand Summit' of the 'Organization of Turkic States' dated 11 November 2022 has been instrumental in ushering in an important era for the future of the Turkic World. Looking at the declaration as a whole, it is almost like a summary of the past. One of the most prominent features of the declaration is that it stands out with its inclusive feature of all Turkic communities beyond the nation-state. This is already reflected in the preamble of the declaration, which reads "Generally accepted norms and principles of international law, in particular respect and support for sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of internationally recognized borders and non-interference in internal affairs". However, it must be regretted to say that Turks living under the yoke of other states have been subjected to chauvinist oppression, some of them have even forgotten their identities and have been forced to forget them.  

The protection of the rights and laws of the 35-million-strong South Azerbaijani Turkish community of South Azerbaijan, which has been subjected to Persian chauvinism for a century but has preserved its existence to that extent, within the framework of the generally accepted norms and principles of international law stipulated by the Declaration of the Samarkand Summit, is at the forefront of the priority objectives. It is one of the most prominent and primary duties of the Organization of Turkic States. The leadership of the "South Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement" (South Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement-GAMOH), which has been trying to awaken the people and tell them about their identity and history, based on the point that the South Azerbaijani Turks have been subjected to violent assimilation by the Persian domination since 1976, should have a rightful place in the Organization of Turkish States. Both the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan cannot escape from these obligations like an ostrich burying its head in the sand, and neither can the Organization of Turkic States. 

On the other hand, GAMOH is fulfilling its duty. So much so that Chehregeni, the leader of the South Azerbaijani executive in exile, even wrote a letter dated May 5, 2023, prior to the May 14, 2023 elections, stating his bias in favor of the People's Alliance. Just like other party leaders who support the People's Alliance, such as Doğu Perinçek and Sinan Oğan, he showed his partiality in favor of President Erdoğan. Even though this attitude was so extreme that it threatened his life in the US, it was shouted out in defiance. Çehregani, who is self-sufficient and humble like no other leader of the movement, makes a living as a taxi driver. He is a monument beyond the epitome of honor and pride. He makes his trips with his own limited money, separating it from his alimony. Even the money he earns, which he should spend on his own health, he spends for the cause, just like Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Mustafa Kemal, the leader of the Anatolian Revolution, sold the horses he had raised while he was an army commander to Cemal Pasha, the commander of the 4th Army, and gave 5,000 gold liras to the National Struggle after he landed in Samsun. This is what it means to be a man of the cause. The starting point of those who dedicate their lives to a cause is their ideals. Those who have the spirit of a cause program their lives according to their ideals, discipline their feelings and thoughts in the direction of their ideals, and restrain their desires and wishes within this framework. The life they live is not their own life, but the life required by their ideals. Their souls, hearts and minds are shaped according to this lifestyle. The "Man of the Cause", the "Idealist" is also an activist, a man of action. How well the ancients used to express it, to be able to maintain the spirit of the Cause, first of all, the power to put ideals into action "requires surgery". Secondly, to be always ready for a rendezvous with the Grim Reaper, in short, it requires "Rabıta-i mevt". Thirdly, it demands not to be separated from the core staff and not to be dispersed, whoever wants on the journey of adventure can get off at any stop. The Dawa Train continues on its way, with those who believe in the cause. 

In his letter dated May 5, 2023, Çehregani first of all sent it to the state and informed the fourth force media in order to enlighten the Turkish people, but regrettably, he was not able to get a single mention of himself. I would like to share with you that I have an obligation to publish Chehregani's letter so that his principled bias is clear and it is not forgotten on dusty shelves. Chehregani preferred to send his letter to the Minister of National Defense rather than directly to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Is this a very appropriate move in terms of diplomatic conventions? Undoubtedly yes. Let us now read together the letter sent by the leader of the National Awakening Movement of South Azerbaijan from Washington, where he is in exile:

"GAMOH South Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement

To Mr. Hulusi AKAR, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey 

As a result of the heroism of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who gained infinite love and respect among the Turkish World and Azerbaijani Turks with the victory in Karabakh, and the heroism shown by Your Excellency during the treacherous coup plot on July 15, the Republic of Turkey has become one of the countries that have a say in the world today. As GAMOH, in order for the Republic of Turkey to strengthen and become a playmaker power in the world and for the steps taken with the Turkic world to yield results, we, as Azerbaijani Turks, provide all kinds of moral and information support through our social media, internet and broadcasting organs for the re-election of our President with our entire organization and obtaining a majority in the parliament. Chehregani has summarized the events and, most importantly, the steps taken with the Turkic world and the Republic of Turkey's rise to the role of a playmaker so well that he has integrated the maxim "Century of Turkey" with "Century of the Turkic World". Our hope is exactly the same as Chekhregani's. We also saw this deficiency and called Turkey-Turkish World Century, the title of our article. 

Yes, dear readers, I would like to say that Turkey's position in the geography of the Turkic World "principled neutrality and full independence in balance" is rising on the guarantee of sustainable peace. On the other hand, its breakthroughs in Africa have united and reinforced its position as the center of attraction of the Central Commonwealth States. It is now up to Turkey to demonstrate its ability to combine these two phenomena. After this merger, GAMOH will rise to its rightful place in the Organization of the Turkic World, and no one should have any doubts about this, dear readers.
