Understanding Who really Atatürk is
Why Atatürk's Name May Not Be Mentioned:
Diyanet did not mention Atatürk in its sermon, which coincided with the 18 March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Day. The policy of ignoring Atatürk continued this year, as in previous years. In the sermon titled “Çanakkale Victory: Resurrection of a Nation” with the emphasis on “ummah” instead of nation, “Çanakkale is the embodiment of the verses “He was shot and lies on his clean forehead, For the sake of a crescent, O Lord, what suns are setting”, jihad and martyrdom in the way of Allah is the soul. Çanakkale is the consciousness of being an ummah, shown by believers from every house in Anatolia, every region of Rumelia, every town in the Islamic geography, who have the same faith, purpose and feeling, by standing shoulder to shoulder like a mountain range.
Yes, there is this consciousness in Çanakkale, but there is also the birth of a leader like a mountain, namely Mustafa Kemal, in Çanakkale, beyond being a nation, standing against imperialism.
Let's explain once again how we feel to those who ignore Atatürk and cannot come to terms with him for some reason, maybe they will understand.
Why do we take photos wherever we see them, bow down in front of them with respect, and try to keep their principles and revolutions alive, while some people hesitate to mention their name and see even one Fatiha a lot?
Have you ever thought?
What are these grudges? Why do they act like children whose wishes have been taken away from them? What are their problems, what are they not getting along with? What do they see in him, what do they think about him?
It's really hard to know and understand.
But let me tell you how people like us feel.
When we see him, we think of his life like a film strip.
In that last period of the empire, we see a person who can hardly be together with his father, who lives in military schools, who looks for a cure for his country and people, who thinks about the future of his country and devoted his life to it instead of personal success.
Even when starting a family, we try to understand the reason behind her choosing not to have children, seeing that she cannot live their love to set an example.
Of course, the tens of wars and outstanding achievements that he packed into his short 57-year life are very important, but when we see him, we see how he longs for peace both at home and in the world. We see the quality it adds to all areas of life with its revolutionary spirit, we see charisma, we see leadership, modernity, civilization, knowledge, intelligence, we see the importance it gives to women and children.
In fact, we all see ourselves in it. Our common denominator with him is devotion to his nation and homeland. No matter how hard we try, how hard we try, to be like him, every time we learn something new about him, we realize what a genius he is.
That is why, when his spiritual personality is not given the value he deserves, we become bored, storms break out within us, we cannot keep silent, we rebel.
Conclusion:
In a concise sentence; Ignoring our Leader does not destroy him, on the contrary, it makes him bigger inside us. History is full of examples of how this love grew. Our humble advice to those who cannot understand Atatürk is to learn what he did instead of ignoring him. I am sure that if you are not malicious, your respect will increase as you learn. Try at least, do not be afraid, the love of Atatürk warms the heart, it is good.
