On the western black sea (Kastamonu province)

Ottoman Geography is 20 million square kilometers. More than 250 states, 5 autonomous regions. Kastamonu Province was established in 1827.

Ottoman Geography is 20 million square kilometers. More than 250 states, 5 autonomous regions. Kastamonu Province was established in 1827. It became a province in 1864. But a year before it became a province, there would be a case that deeply affected the Western Black Sea Region.

Case-i Hayriye / Case-i Sharriye

In 1826, II., nicknamed "Gavur Sultan". Mahmut removed the devshirme Janissary: Whose good and whose evil was the "Case of Good" was not discussed. But the source of soldiers to fight for the Devlet-i Ali ceased to be Christians. The new source of soldiers was Muslims (to a large extent Turks).

The Qaeda of the Turkmen would form the basis of the national resistance in the future. However, the event-i Hayriye would show its evil effect, which reduced the population of Muslim Turks and destroyed their human resources, mostly in the First World and Independence Wars.

Western Black Sea Micro-Ethnicity

How did this “micro-ethnic” geography (Kastamonu Province), where more than 98 percent of the population was Muslim (Turkish) according to Ottoman records, gained this structure in the historical process?

The fact that the Kaskas, who were the first founders of Kastamonu 4000 years ago, were Turks, puts the Western Black Sea and the city in a completely different place. First Palalar in the west and then the Hittites in the east are established. There is neither Persian nor Greek… Thracian tribes on the western border, Luwis, Pelesengs… Even Lydians.

In other words, the Kaskas in the region built the first Turkish city in Anatolia. Phrygians, Cimmerians… If the Scythians and Alp Er Tunga in the east (Tokat Zile) had not been trapped, the total Turkification of Anatolia would have happened 1000 years ago. B.C. In the 8th century, the Western Black Sea proto (fore) Turks settled towards the Sea of Islands (Aegean) and the Mediterranean. Thus, the language, dress and dialect similarity with the people of Western Anatolia and the Taurus Mountains begins to form long before the great migration-hijra wave that occurred after the tenth century. Rome divides this place into two: Paphlogonia and Bithynia. The Russians attack these places, but they cannot hold on. Against the Russians, Pecheneg, Uz and Kuman-Kipchak tribes were settled in this region and were employed as mercenary sipahis.

Natural Fortress

The double-triple mountain ranges of the Western Black Sea region parallel to the sea form "natural fortresses". Alexander cannot enter the Zone. Persian passion is from afar through "Kalas". Greek colonies establish point settlements. Like dice in backgammon… And when the walls come down, he leaves the area. Indigenous people remain the same people. This helped the first Turkish city of Anatolia to protect itself for years. Even the Mongols who settled on the plains could not enter the natural fortress. Turks are concentrated in the mountains.

The Twelve Sons of Ishmael

Black Sea is the litmus paper of the Turks. In the Xth century Russian chronicle Ipatevskaya Letopis, "Torkmen, Pechenegs, Torks and Polovets (Kuman-Kipchak) descended from the twelve sons of Ismail" are mentioned. These tribes are the heroes of "Turkish migration" and "Turkish Migration". People coming from the north are becoming Christians, and Muslim Turks are coming from the south. Coming from the North of the Black Sea, the group is placed in the Balkans, Central Europe, the Sea of Islands, Thrace and the Western Black Sea. More Muslim Turkmens come from the south. They settle in the Mediterranean, the Sea of Islands and the Black Sea. When the two extremes come together in the homeland of Kaşka, you find yourself in a separate geography called the Western Black Sea. Çaka Bey established a principality in İzmir in 1081. He agreed with the Pechenegs and conquered Southern Thrace and He wants to conquer Istanbul.

Byzantine Alliances, Great Migrations and Settlement

Byzantium made an alliance with Bulgars and Pechenegs in 917 against the Russian threat, and with Cuman-Kipchaks in 1091 against the Pecheneg threat. Diplomacy in Karadere, war in Omurbey. The names are already in Turkish.

During the alliances, the Byzantine emperor transferred the Bulgars, Pechenegs, Cumans and Uz Turks to Anatolia and settled them. Emperor Ioannes Vatatzes is praised for stopping the Turk with the Turk.

1071 Meeting in Manzikert

Pecheneg, Oghuz and Cuman-Kipchak mercenaries settled in the Balkans, the Western Black Sea and the Islands Sea join their compatriots in the Battle of Manzikert in 1071. Because Turkish unites them. After this date, Anatolia never loses its Turkish homeland character. The Western Black Sea Turkmens, who have never been invaded, also become the main actors in the Çanakkale and War of Independence.

Western Black Sea: Qaeda-i Turkmen

It would be appropriate to shed some more detail on the homogeneity of the Western Black Sea Region. The Turkish migration to Anatolia from the North is a mixture of Bulgarian, Pecheneg, Oghuz and Cuman-Kipchak. This is one of the factors explaining the linguistic and cultural closeness of the Western Black Sea Region with Western Anatolia, the Balkans and Central Europe. On the other hand, the great Turkmen migrations also come from the south of the Black Sea. In the west, it gathers at the ends. As a matter of fact, the traveler and historian Ibn Bibi determined the Seljuk's "Right Arm End Governor" as Hüsameddin Shepherd from the Kayi tribe in Kastamonu, and "Left Arm End Governor" Seyfeddin Kızıl in Ankara. Ibn Bibi writes that Hüsameddin Çoban Bey relied on the Kayı, Bayat and Kipchak warriors during the Byzantine wars. The mounted cavalry is ready for 25,000 people. The land of Kaşkalar is already a branch of Sumer.

On the other hand, Shahinshah (1110-1116), Sultan II. Kılıç Arslan (1155-1192) and those who came during the Mongolian invasion (XIII. century) caused Italian travelers to call Anatolia Turkey. According to Simon of Saint-Quentin, the Turkish Seljuks had 100 cities. The Arab geographer Abu Fida Ibn Said also counts 24 main cities. These are the places that are full and some of them have a population of over 100 thousand.

Especially the Turkmen density in the Western Black Sea region draws the attention of Ibn Said: Before 1261, there were 200,000 tent Turkmen people in the Taurus-Denizli region, 100,000 in the Kastamonu region, and 30,000 tents between Kütahya and Karahisar. With the determination of Kâtip Çelebi, Kastamonu and its surroundings are the base of the Turkmen.

Islamization of the Western Black Sea Turks

In the Western Black Sea and Western Anatolia, Muslim Turks and Christian and Shaman Turks met in the last quarter of the 1000s. The same meeting will take place in the Balkans within a hundred years.

Thus, these regions are adorned with the Muslim structure of the Turks this time.

Western Black Sea (Kastamonu Province/Villain)

The Western Black Sea region from Maiden's Tower to Samsun is called Kastamonu Province. When organized as a province, it more or less includes the Western Black Sea Region. Kastamonu is the center of the Bolu, Sinop and Çankırı sanjaks, as well as the Pasha Sanjak (centre).

All sources agree. Foreign or local, it doesn't matter. This region is the only and only province (province) in the Ottoman geography with a 98 percent Muslim Turkish population. The biggest source of soldiers in the Balkan, Çanakkale and Independence wars in the era of disasters was this Muslim Turkish geography. And although it was not invaded, the region that gave the most martyrs is the Western Black Sea region by far.

Equality in Burden and Blessing

With the Vaka-i Hayriye, the defense of the country was left only to the Muslims. The Turkish population has been the biggest source of soldiers. For this reason, the First World War and the Struggle for National Independence reduced the Muslim and Turkish population.

Especially the martyrdom of the educated and educated population has obscured the influence of the Muslim Turkish population in the economy, social life and administration. The region most affected by this was Kastamonu Province, the first Turkish city in Anatolia, and the Western Black Sea Region with its 98% Muslim (Turkish) structure. Who knows, one of the reasons why there is not a single Western Black Sea Minister in the cabinet today is the negative result of Vakayı Hayriye. Matt effect. Disadvantaged start… The intensity of the burden seems to have prevented the blessing. However, equality is key. What our Constitution says: Everyone is equal before the law. No one person, family, group or class shall be granted privilege.

Köroğlu, Ilgaz, Küre, İsfendiyar mountain ranges, as if the graves of those who lie in the heart of the earth are lined up in rows… What did Western Black Sea poet Orhan Şaik Gökyay say: “This homeland belongs to those who lie like mountain ranges in the heart of the soil.”

Article 10 of the Constitution is clear: An equal and unprivileged Turkey awaits us.
