World Number One India

India is now the first country with the most people in the world! For the first time in history, a country whose population surpassed the population of China. And that's India.

1.412 billion people!

The last census was actually conducted in 2011, when the population was 1.21 billion. The census was conducted every ten years, but this census was postponed in 2021 due to covid-19. With the census conducted again this year, it has surpassed China as of 25 June.

Meanwhile, it is calculated that the world population will exceed 8 billion on 15 November this year.

Although female birth rates tend to decrease worldwide, it is estimated that we will be 8.5 billion in 2030 and 10.5 billion worldwide in 2100 with the current birth rate of 2.3 per female population. In 2050, the fertility rate is expected to drop to 2.1.

With such a population, India is actually not a country that has enough say among the countries of the world.

It has lived as a British colony for many years and still has not completely severed its ties with England.

However, India is also a very powerful country. It has specialists working in very good positions in technology and engineering, especially in America.

Yesterday, India successfully landed a spacecraft on the south pole of the moon and became the first country to land a spacecraft on the south pole of the moon. Did you know this?

Russia had tried the same thing recently, but without success.

Its per capita national income is 2085 dollars as of 2022 December. So it is actually a very poor country.

However, on the other hand, they left their work and tried to send a spacecraft to the moon. They also succeeded.

Even America could not send a spacecraft to the place in question. The planned manned landing is constantly postponed. So this success is an achievement to be admired for India.

On the other hand, it is a very poor country in the world, isn't it a paradoxical situation?

India has a federal state structure. It is governed by a constitutional parliamentary system. As is usually the case in federal states, the parliament has two wings, one is the people's assembly and the other is the assembly of states.

It has a multi-party and democratic form of government.

An interesting rule for me is that parliamentarians are forbidden to change parties after their election.

Actually, I think this is a rule that we should have too!

Anyway, the subject is not the system of government.

In fact, although the dominant belief structure in the country is Hinduism, India is the third country in the world with the largest Muslim population after Indonesia and Pakistan!

In this sense, our relations as a country are expected to be much better.

Feeding such a large population is probably also a big problem. 

India is the world's 12th largest economy and ranks fourth in the world on the basis of purchasing parity. This is a proof that India is a good market.

In other words, I think our commercial relations with India can be much better if we want.

In fact, we have not had enough relations with India throughout history.

There are many languages spoken in the country and although it is located in the south of the Turkish geography, unfortunately, Turkish is not among these spoken languages! 

When I say Turkish, I do not only mean Turkish of Turkey, after all, for example, there are Uighurs living in China, I mean that there is no similar Turkish community within the borders of India.

Of course, when I say this, I am not talking about the Turks who went there in modern times and lived there like in many other countries.

In fact, there are traces of Turks in India. During the time of the Mughals, in the 10th century and afterwards, especially the north of India came under the control of the Turks for a while. Turks even left some historical artefacts back then. However, they probably dominated those lands with the support of the Mongols, not on their own.

Nevertheless, it is not possible to talk about a Turkish society in India today that has survived from those days.

Yes, India is endeavouring to become one of the important world powers of tomorrow with its unique culture. I do not know whether it has such a potential power, but I can say that its human resources are more than enough to become a much more successful country tomorrow.

I think it would be beneficial for us to make more efforts for the relations to reach a much better level.
