Agenda Gulsen
It is not right to use generalizing expressions in statements addressed to crowds, in writings that reach more than one person. Such expressions are unfortunately misunderstood. If an adjective is used about Imam Hatiplis, this of course affects and upsets everyone who studied and graduated from those schools.
Let's examine Gülşen's arrest for her remarks about Imam Hatiplis on stage.
First of all, I would like to state the following. It is not right to use generalizing expressions in statements addressed to crowds, in writings that reach more than one person. Such expressions are unfortunately misunderstood. If an adjective is used about Imam Hatiplis, this of course affects and upsets everyone who studied and graduated from those schools.
The same applies to other schools, groups, sects, followers, nations. For example, if military high schools and all of their students are labeled as coup plotters and their schools are closed down, this affects all military high school students and this closure would be unethical and unfair. It is wrong to generalize individual situations.
Both Imam Hatip students and military high school students are children of this country. If someone makes a mistake, the offense is individual and will be punished, generalization is not right.
Therefore, it is natural for Gülşen's discourse to be perceived as offensive. However, this kind of discourse always happens on stage, in live performances. Gülşen is an artist who has a different stance with her style, speeches and songs, especially on stage. You like her, you don't like her. But you can't immediately arrest her for saying a sentence. While it is clear from her tweet of apology that she did not approve of the controversial sentence she uttered, and there was no possibility of her fleeing, it was not at all pleasant that an arrest warrant was immediately issued, so to speak, like a victim who had found the goods.
This discontent is evident from individual criticism on various social platforms and social discomfort at sporting events. The reaction of Fenerbahçe fans by singing Gülşen's song is a clear indication of this discontent.
In sum; the law must be equal and fair for everyone. In a conjuncture where many insulting remarks are publicly expressed on different platforms, arresting an artist in such a hasty manner does not befit a democratic, secular and social state of law.
