How Peaceful We Are

For example, why don't you react like this to the news in the newspapers every day that there is a hike in this, a hike in that? Aren't those hikes also a robbery? Go ahead, pick up the phone, say you are being robbed? Shout at the top of your lungs that they are robbing me! But no, it's perfect outside. You've poured a cup of tea. You're listening to your music. Birds singing, insects in the countryside. You're at peace.

You are enjoying a cup of tea on your balcony. The weather is perfect, sunny and a gentle breeze is licking your face.

You are at peace because there is nothing to disturb your peace.

You hear soft music from inside, a song you like.

Everything around is so calm and beautiful.

Even the roses planted in the garden below are in bloom, maybe a cat is wandering on the grass. Birds are singing from the tree next door.

At such a moment, let's say you notice that something is going on in the shop across the street.

The shopkeeper is quite frightened and takes out all the money he has earned that day from the cash register and gives it to someone who says angry words.

He's probably being robbed.

Yes, a robber comes in broad daylight and robs the store where you always shop.

What would you do in this situation?

I would get on the phone and call the police!

Why?

You are not the one being robbed?

After all, didn't that wretched shopkeeper sell you a spoiled can of canned food the other day?

Doesn't he rob you in a sense by saying that the price has gone up every time and what you bought yesterday for 5 liras is now 7 liras?

So today is his day too, look, someone is robbing him in the end. Oh well!

But no, a robber in the store, a thief!

A disorderly person, a dangerous person!

You need to call the police immediately and tell them what happened and make sure that the robber is put behind bars.

Because we are sensitive people.

Such robbers who disrupt social order have no place among us!

Just in case, the one who robbed a store today will break into your house tomorrow and rob you too.

What will happen? Your peace will be disturbed. Order will be disturbed!

Well, if you are so sensitive to the preservation of order, how is it that you are so insensitive to other things that disrupt order?

For example, why don't you react like this to the news in the newspapers every day that there has been a hike in this and a hike in that?

Aren't those hikes also a robbery?

Go ahead, pick up the phone, say you are being robbed? Shout at the top of your lungs that they are robbing me!

But no, it's perfect outside. You've poured a cup of tea. You're listening to your music. Birds singing, insects in the countryside.

You are at peace.

Nothing can disturb your peace.

In the established order, after all, you are living your life like everyone else.

***

What is the need to oppose the established order now?

There are so many refugees in the country that Ali, the neighbor's son, can't find a job. Does it matter to you?

Ayşe, the other neighbor's daughter, is forced to go to the nearby imam-hatip school because almost all public schools are now imam-hatip schools. Does it matter to you?

The upstairs neighbor's son Ahmet had to stay in a sect dormitory in the big city because there were no dormitories, does that matter to you?

In the village, Hasan Aga is going to sow his field, but he has no seeds, no fertilizer, no money for diesel fuel for the tractor. Does that matter?

And Hüseyin Aga, just the other day he had to take his cow to the slaughterhouse because he cannot feed it.

The cow has already been weaned, probably the feed is not enough, or it is sick. Does this matter?

Baby Balkır is staying in a tent on his mother's lap, his father and siblings were trapped under the rubble in the earthquake. It is not even clear where two of his brothers are buried. Do you have anything to say to this?

Okay, you sent aid money, didn't our state organize a campaign? Maybe you are saying what more can I do?

And the state has started building houses, what else!

Do you realize they put that journalist in jail? Well, you don't read that newspaper anyway!

Look, they have built many things above cost, roads, bridges, hospitals! It's okay, they did it. I've never crossed that bridge anyway, and I don't use that toll road!

It was impossible to get an appointment at the hospital for months. Well, I'm not sick, so don't disturb my peace!

I voted for the system again, what do you want from me?

You did, but look, there is no money left in the coffers, the central bank's coffers are minus billions of dollars.

Even tourists are booking to Egypt or Tunisia this summer because of the unstable prices!

No matter, I am at peace on my balcony. The President will fix the economy and Putin will send the tourists to us. No problem!

But he's sick too!

No matter, he has many doctors, they will cure him.

And who better than him to run the country?

We won, brother, don't you understand that!

But the montage, but this, but that, did we win the election? What are you after? Let me drink my tea in peace.

I wouldn't call the police even if a robber broke into the store across the street. Just the other day the bastard sold me a spoiled can. He keeps raising his prices every day. He's robbing me.

If he's being robbed, so be it! It's divine justice!

I'll enjoy myself. I'm in favor of the established order.

Look how beautiful the singing sounds from inside, the weather is beautiful, the roses are in bloom. I'm in peace, drinking my tea, enjoying my day in the light breeze.

Nothing you can say can disturb my peace.

Love and respect to everyone from Moscow
