What is really happening around the Asparagus Mosque?
Those who know Üsküdar know that if you walk along the shore from the piers and the square towards Salacak-Harem, you will see the Kuşkonmaz Mosque, one of the masterpieces of Mimar Sinan, on the right. Sorry, you cannot see it. Why?
I will tell you a story, you make the assessment.
Those who know Üsküdar know that if you walk along the shore from the piers and the square towards Salacak-Harem, you will see the Kuşkonmaz Mosque, one of the masterpieces of Mimar Sinan, on the right. Sorry, you cannot see it. Why?
Because the area around this mosque was filled with restaurants and cafes during the municipality period of this government. The mosque was almost lost among these facilities. Disgraceful shack-type images had almost swallowed this historical monument.
The commercial enterprise rent of this area is very high. It is both adjacent to the square and on the coastline and has one of the most beautiful views in the world. It is always crowded.
Anyway, in the plans of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the areas where these restaurants and cafes were located were shown as green space. So there is a situation where someone is squatting on public green space, building a facility and making money from it.
But let's not get angry at them because it is obvious that some municipality and public officials are looting it. I think it was "allocated" within the scope of the favor of Muslim to Muslim; so that this place would not remain empty, so that it would be useful. No, what bribery, your hearts are full of evil...
Thereupon, IBB started the demolition process of these facilities as it did in Salacak and Sarayburnu. Courts, etc. finally issued a demolition order.
When the teams went to the demolition site with the court order in their hands, they were in for a surprise. The demolition site was surrounded by a police barrier, police teams were stationed, and officials from the Ministry of Urbanization and the AKP's Üsküdar Municipality were waiting. They asked what the incident was and were told "if you don't demolish it".
The summary of the incident is as follows; an institution of the state comes with a court order, it is going to execute the order, but the institutions of the state try to prevent the execution of the court order by force, in other words, the institutions of the state protect the crime and the criminal. What is being prevented is public interest and unjust gain.
Finally, the demolition took place today, albeit with a delay. Someone pulled a gun on the demolition teams and I am not going into that detail.
You know those who say what will change with the elections? This is exactly what elections are all about. Forget about prayer rugs. You will either side with the law or with the thugs. Elections are the only way to liquidate some gang-type formations that have taken public power behind their backs and parasites that make unfair gains. The people say enough is enough, the opposition's rhetoric is to oppose the thug system that has been going on for years and now they feel their hands in their pockets.
So, if the government goes, the gangs and some public officials on their payroll will lose their livelihood, their interests will be harmed, and who will shout if not those who feed on this corrupt system?
So will we give in to the noise on May 14th?
The conclusion is that there is either the rule of law or the order of thugs, there is no middle ground.
