What is a Republic? What are the Standards that the Republic should offer to the Turkish People?

Since 29 October 1923, Turkey has been a republic governed by democratic and secular principles. The Republic must have international standards to offer to the Turkish people so that the country is governed by a modern form of government that is different from monarchy, constitutionalism, socialist, fascist, one-man regimes and tyranny.

What does republic mean?

"Republic" is a term that corresponds to the word "republic" in Turkish. Republic refers to a political order in which the people or citizens are governed through representatives elected by them for a certain period of time, instead of a kingdom or monarchy as the form of government of a state. In republics, the head of state and other governing bodies are usually determined through elections and citizens enjoy equal rights.

The Republic of Turkey, for example, is a republic proclaimed on 29 October 1923. Since then, Turkey's form of government has changed from a monarchy to a republic. The head of state, the president, is elected and Turkey is a republic governed by democratic and secular principles.

What is a standard?

"Standard" refers to a criterion, norm or accepted model that has been set for a product, service or process. Standards are set to ensure a certain level of quality, conformity or performance and are often used in industry, technology, safety, health, environment and other fields.

Standards can be used in many different areas. For example:

Product Standards:

Used to determine the properties, dimensions, material composition and performance of a product. This ensures that products meet quality and safety standards.

Service Standards:

Determines how a service should be delivered, the procedures and quality criteria set to improve customer satisfaction.

Industry Standards:

Defines the processes, materials and practices that are commonly accepted in a particular industry.

Safety Standards:

Guidelines and requirements set to ensure the safety of products or services.

Health Standards:

Used to ensure the suitability and safety of health services, medical products and practices.

Environmental Standards:

Used to determine compliance with environmental protection and sustainability principles.

Standards aim to harmonise, ensure consistency and reliability in a particular sector, improve product and service quality and gain the trust of consumers. It also facilitates the acceptance of products and services in the national or international market.

As the Republic of Turkey, we are today committed to many international institutions or organisations through agreements.

Is there a link between the Republic and its standards?

Yes, there can be links between a republic and certain standards. These links are often centred around concepts such as democracy, human rights, the rule of law and transparency in governance.

A republic is a form of government in which the people are governed through their representatives. Democracy is one of the fundamental principles of a republic. In a democratic republic, citizens choose their rulers through elections and fundamental rights and freedoms are respected. This includes democratic standards.

Human rights are also an essential part of a republic. In a republic, citizens have equal rights and these rights are protected by the constitution and laws. Human rights standards are among the fundamental values of a republic.

The principle of the rule of law emphasises that everyone is equal before the law and that the law applies to everyone. In a republic, observance of the rule of law requires the establishment of a fair and impartial legal system. This includes standards of justice.

Transparency in governance is also an important aspect of a republic. In order for the people to be able to hold their elected representatives to account, administrative procedures and decision-making processes must be transparent. This includes standards of public disclosure and accountability.

There is therefore a close relationship between a republic and certain standards. The basic principles of a republic should generally be in line with internationally recognised standards such as democracy, human rights, the rule of law and transparency in governance.

Republic and Standard

The Republic is a collection of standards harmonised with the foundation stones and cells of reason and science.

It means hour, day, week, month and year. It means common sense, science and its applications.

It means having standards in every subject in the life of human society.

It means the use of common values and denominators in trade, the commonality of holidays and rest days with the nations of the world.

The Republic also brings standards in justice and human rights. It is the standardisation of the understanding that the state exists for the individual and that its main purpose is based on the rights and law of the individual. It is harmonisation with world states and law.

The basis of the understanding of developed nations and humanity is to recognise the standard that women and children also have rights. It is to recognise their equality before the law.

The Republic also sets standards in the field of democracy; it is the standard of ensuring that the methods of administration and the application of laws are the same as those of the civilised nations of the world.

The Republic is to recognise the individual's right to education. It provides the standard of each individual's right to equal education.

The Republic provides the standard for the adaptation of science to human life. It is the standard of a rational understanding in common speech and agreement grounds. It is to be instantly informed about the works carried out in different regions, climates and places, and to take common steps on this basis in new works to be carried out and to ensure the creation of joint works.

The Republic also provides standards in the field of health and life; it helps to ensure the peace and happiness of those living in the rational and scientifically created cities and settlements of the societies living together. In this way, it prepares the ground for the living places to be created away from all natural dangers and to be organised within a plan by protecting the cultural values. Settlements enable the construction of factories and schools. It pioneers the creation of hospitals and shopping centres.

It also helps the formation and implementation of forms of government.

The Republic provides a standard for human communities with the same ideals, goals and thoughts to fulfil their collective wishes by helping them to keep within these structures they have determined for themselves.

The Republic provides the standard for people who respect each other in terms of freedom and thinking, and who can debate, to express and live freely together within common values. It ensures that beliefs can be lived freely and according to certain standards. No person or group can put pressure and coercion on another group.

In short, the Republic provides everyone with equal rights and values in beliefs, thoughts, education and living standards, which is also called development and human rights.

The Republic is the most important factor in achieving this level of development and civilisation. Achieving a standard of development for all the individuals of the state and reaching this level of development together means the dissemination and development of these standards.

It is possible for a farmer who wants to breed livestock to receive training in this field, to realise this work in the light of state and bank support and science and to earn an economic income, and to carry out his beliefs and cultural values in common with his friends and other cultures and in respect and love thanks to the Republic.

The Republic ensures the continuity of life.

For this reason, the Republic establishes, develops and implements the rules of common life within different cultures and beliefs. It ensures that those who work hard and produce will make more profit and those who work less will earn less accordingly, but that all this is done on a certain basis.

It will be possible to develop and grow these standards and values in accordance with the values of the Republic and the standards brought by it, again thanks to the Republic.

The important thing is not which form of government you have or whether your country is called Republic or not. What is important is which standards of the Republic you can apply and develop and develop it.

The Republic also means a standard in justice and its practices, which is the foundation of property, that is, the state.

The main duty of the Republic is to keep the people alive so that the State lives.

If there is no Republic, it means that you are governed by the standards set by another king, sultan, belief or administration.

The standards of this administration are determined by those people and groups at the top.

The Republic is a collection of standards based on reason and science and the values of the society that constitutes it, in the relations of a state or nation both within itself and among the states of the world.

The Republic is the basis of a standardised life within a nation as an individual.

The day your standards are lost, you lose everything, including your future. You lose your state and your values.

This is why a nation's form of government is important because of the standards it provides.

If you have no standards, you are not a nation.

The fact that the name of our country says Republic only makes sense if you have standards in accordance with reason, science, moral and conscientious values.

Otherwise, you become an ummah, a tribe, a community. You go wherever anyone wants you to go.

Let's not forget, please, as Atatürk said to the teachers, "The Republic demands from you generations whose minds are free, conscience is free, wisdom is free." Only then will the real Republic come.
