Cronyism and Discipline

It is difficult to be a partisan. They are trying to associate the actions of Talat Aydemir and the 15 July coup attempt with the dismissal of lieutenants. They are being ridiculous with their coup paranoia.

I am watching the discussions on the dismissal of lieutenants and their superiors.

Huge editor-in-chiefs, academics, journalists whose names are known by everyone, security experts, strategists, people with huge titles are talking and discussing the subject. Sometimes they talk such rubbish that I am speechless.

Why?

Because being a partisan is hard work.

They try to associate the actions of Talat Aydemir and the 15 July coup attempt with the dismissal of lieutenants. They are being ridiculous with their coup paranoia.

Why?

Because being a partisan is hard work.

Those who do not know what discipline means or does not mean in their lives say the same thing as the politicians they support to reach the result, as if they do not have their own thoughts.

Why?

Because it is difficult to be a partisan.

A partisan means one who is in favour of someone, biased, partial. Therefore, it means one who accepts whatever his/her side says. In other words, a kind of fan. Some are even fanatical supporters. Whatever the political figures they support say, they say the same. Watching the supporters of politicians who make frequent turns is like watching a comedy film. As politicians spin, they spin like a pinwheel.

So what is discipline, let's take a look at its definition.

Discipline is absolute obedience to laws, orders and superiors, and respect for the law of subordinates and superiors.

Soldiers know the definition by heart.

Why?

Because discipline is the basis of military service.

Look what is in the definition? Absolute obedience to laws, regulations and superiors.

A superior is someone who has the authority to command. In other words, the superior says, ‘Do this,’ and the subordinate does it. Responsibility belongs to the superior. But what happens if the superior gives an illegal order? This is another example of indiscipline.

Another important point in the recipe is to respect the law of the superior and the subordinate. Not protecting the law of the subordinate is also undiscipline. In short, discipline is not only obedience, but also respecting the law of both superior and subordinate.

Let us return to the dismissal of lieutenants and their superiors.

According to the statement made, 4 members, including the legal advisor and the chief of staff, have annulled the decision on the dismissal of the lieutenants and their superiors.

Then the question is; how can the members of the board, who approved the decision of the dismissed lieutenants and their supervisors, make a decision that is not approved by the legal advisor and their own supervisors?

Is this not a breach of discipline?

Both disobedience to the law and disobedience to superiors are evident.

It seems that due to the pressure of the political will in making this decision, the board was confused about what to do in order to finalise the decision in the way the politics wanted, and such a situation was created. In fact, it seems as if such a decision was taken by the command staff and the chief of staff in order to save the future of the generals in the board on the one hand, and on the other hand, to make the decision desired by politics. Otherwise, it is not possible for a decision that the legal advisor and the chief of staff vote against to be passed by the board in this way.

The Board was caught between the pressures from above on the one hand and the rules of discipline and law on the other, and made a decision in a way that both did what politics wanted and calculated that this decision would be reversed by the court.

As a result, with the intervention of cronies in politics and politics in the army, discipline was disrupted, the command was occupied with unnecessary work, and a strange situation was created from the top to the bottom that was not in accordance with the law.

The army is the apple of our eye.

If it is worn down, we will become blind.
