Last Exit Before the Bridge

Let's not forget that not only Turkey but also many countries around the world are eagerly awaiting the outcome of this election. They are watching whether Turkey will change its political, economic and security direction. In particular, other countries are watching the Turkish elections carefully to understand how the economy and international relations will be shaped after the elections.

Yes, the time has come. On Sunday we will cast our votes and choose the person and his team who will govern us. We are going to the most important election in Turkish political history. Reliable polls show that there are two candidates who are likely to win.

Let us examine the situation a little.

First of all, if Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the candidate of the Millet alliance, is elected President, it is obvious that there will be a big change compared to the current administration. In other words, it is normal for those who are dissatisfied with the current administration to turn to Kılıçdaroğlu. Consolidating almost all non-extreme segments of the political spectrum, including social democrats, liberals, nationalists and conservatives, is a great achievement in itself. It is actually clear how the 6-party alliance will govern the country. The 2400-article joint consensus text is like a government program. The public's duty is to follow what has been done and what has not been done in accordance with this text and decide whether to support it again in the next election. If this first term is successful, the support of the People's Alliance will gradually dwindle, and the AKP and Erdoğan may never reach the voting potential to come to power again. The AKP may even turn into a marginal party, like the ANAP / True Path parties, drifting below the threshold with the end of the blessings of power.

So, what will happen if Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the candidate of the People's Alliance, is re-elected President? First of all, despite all the wear and tear of being in power for more than 20 years, the poisoning of power and the great difficulties especially in the economy, Erdoğan's re-election would mean that as long as Erdoğan is in politics, no one else can be elected again. Erdoğan will not be satisfied with the power he has today, he will want to use much more and will rule the country under these conditions. It is likely that every anti-democratic discourse, attitude and behavior he is criticized for will continue to increase. The fact that Kılıçdaroğlu lost the election again despite consolidating almost all possible elements will cause not only him but all opposition leaders to be questioned within their own parties. As Erdoğan consolidates his power within the party and the alliance, major changes in the opposition parties will become inevitable.

Another issue under discussion is the speculation that even if the government loses the election, it will not hand over power and will create chaos. It is a great shame for the country that such an assumption is being discussed in democratic regimes where the people have their say. The penalty for engaging in such lawlessness would be severe. Those at the top may be able to somehow save themselves, but those below will be severely battered. What all civil servants responsible for safety and security must do is to respect the will of the people, to obey the laws, orders and superiors absolutely and not to obey unlawful orders. It should not be forgotten that any unlawful and illegal actions will constitute a crime in the future.

As a result, we are going to an election without fighting, without noise, without stealing, without stealing, where we want the national will to be manifested. Let us not forget that not only Turkey but also many countries around the world are eagerly awaiting the outcome of this election. They are watching whether Turkey will change its political, economic and security direction.  In particular, other countries are watching the Turkish elections carefully to understand how the economy and international relations will be shaped after the elections.

It is not known how rational it is to expect the economy to be corrected from those who have corrupted it with their unscientific understanding, but with the intervention of a strong competent team, the economy may experience an exit in the short term and a revival in the long term. The withdrawal of Mr. Muharrem İnce as a candidate and the possibility of the election being concluded in the first round caused the stock market to react upwards. This can be interpreted as buying that the economic recovery will begin.

In international relations, the motto of the founding philosophy "Peace at home, peace in the world" should be re-implemented, peaceful policies and good relations based on mutual trust, especially with neighboring countries, common interests should be established and problems should be solved together.

One last note: Every vote is very important not only for the leader and his/her team to come to power, but also for the undesirable one not to come to power.

Let's go.

No matter who wins, may democracy win.

May Turkey win.

Come on...
