The Sad End of Don Altobello - Godfather 3
The mob boss, played by Al Pacino as Michael Corleone, is now old enough. He is at the final stage of his plans to take the family out of the illegal business and do only legal business as he promised his wife years ago. But unfortunately things do not go as planned.
Today he appeared again on a channel and for some reason I wanted to watch Mr. Erdoğan for a while to see what he said this time.
Usually, maybe because of the compulsion of the channels to switch to live broadcasting when he starts speaking, I would change the channel.
Yes, I confess, I don't have a heartfelt attachment to him like some people.
I respect those who love him very much, of course, but to tell you the truth, maybe because he has been in power for so many years, I am tired of seeing him everywhere.
There was a time when he came to the opening of the Turkish Trade Center we were building in Moscow, and I got to see him close enough for a while.
I think it was 2006.
Back then, even though we were the construction team, it was not possible to get very close to him. Even I saw him from a distance.
However, I remember that during his thank you speech to our workers, we had to remove that worker from the staff due to a protest from one of the workers.
Since I was not directly in charge of the management at the time, I don't know exactly what happened to that protesting worker. I think his employment contract was immediately canceled with compensation.
I remember that day we had to pay for the lunches of hundreds of people, including journalists, who were accompanied by Mr. Erdoğan, who was the Prime Minister at the time.
Our employer, the joint stock company formed by TOB and TIM, which was the investor of the Turkish Trade Center built here, naturally blamed all the expenses of this visit on us as we were the contractor company. In such cases, there is nothing to do, contractors are obliged to bear the costs.
Don't say that you are a contractor company, back then, the jobs were not being done for such an outrageous amount of money. Moreover, this project was a very challenging job for us.
We had to build a building quite different from the initial project.
The Russians did not approve the project similar to the Ak Center that the Turks had originally planned to build, and they forced us to build a project of their own.
The funny thing is that since the employer was in charge of these relations, they did not inform the contractor company during the development of the new project, so they used a lot of stalling tactics.
In other words, the cost of the lost time, plus the cost of all the changes was charged to the contractor and the project was barely completed.
Mr. Erdogan came to Russia many times in the following years on various occasions and made many inaugurations.
But I did not attend any of them out of curiosity.
Watching him on that channel today, I noticed how old he has gotten.
How quickly the years have passed.
When I see him as he was in those days, I can understand the difference much better.

I just remembered a scene from the movie "The Godfather". We call the movie "The Godfather", but the literal translation of the movie title is "The Godfather".
The Godfather!
I think it was the third movie in the series.
Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino, is a mafia boss who has had enough.
He is in the final stages of his plans to take the family out of the illegal business and do only legal business as he promised his wife years ago.
Unfortunately, things do not go as planned.
The betrayal of Don Altobello, the oldest friend of the family despite being much older than him, and a rival who intends to fill the gap among other families dissatisfied with this situation, plays a major role in the course of the movie.
Don Altobello is in secret relations with those who control the company owned by the Church, and plans are being made to assassinate Michael Corleone.
The deal to buy the shares of the company owned by the Church is not approved for a long time due to the illness of the former Pope.
With the assassination of the new Pope, the deal falls through.
Because it is certain that the transfer of the shares will be approved by the new Pope.
Michael Corleone, overwhelmed by these dirty relations, begins to investigate those who betrayed him.
Meanwhile, his beautiful daughter Mary has entered into an affair with her late brother Santino's son Vincent, who is as flighty as his father.
A love affair between cousins is not the kind of relationship that one would naturally approve of.
Michael Corleone, now exhausted and ill, agrees to let the young and dynamic Vincent become the new Godfather in exchange for his daughter ending the affair, and also because the family's plans to go into law enforcement have fallen through.
Taking the reins, Vincent will take turns eliminating the family's enemies.
He begins to destroy those who betray the family, sometimes on his own, sometimes with the help of those who are loyal to the family on his orders.
Don Altobello's turn will come at the opera performance of Michael Corleone's son Anthony in Sicily.
Don Altobello quietly passes away while eating a box of fudge given to him by Michael's sister Connie to eat during the opera. Because even though the candy is Altobello's favorite kind, it is poisonous.
In the movie, Connie is shown watching Don Altobello through binoculars.
What a sad ending, isn't it?
A sad but peaceful death at the same time!
Don Altobello, who still has so much ambition at that age, pays for his betrayal by bringing his own end with his own hands with a box of sweets taken from the hands of his closest. But not in a violent way, quietly, calmly and happily.
This is how it happens sometimes, people cannot accept the betrayal you have done, even if it is the closest person.
Once you betray, sooner or later you pay the price of betrayal.
Sometimes you pay with your life, sometimes in other ways. But if you have betrayed, you definitely pay the price.

Yes, in that brief impression I realized once again how old Mr. Erdoğan has become.
Of course, the poisonous words on his tongue were the same as always, it was obvious that he still had a lot of ambition for power.
Some of his words I can't bring myself to say, but even if they are lies, let's say they are not lies but a bit of slander, I think the real problem is the ambition for power that he has not been able to shake off all these years.
However, as far as I know, he is getting older and has some ailments.
Why doesn't he think about a quiet life anymore?
Isn't there a Vincent to hand things over to?

I don't know if it is possible to watch it in Turkey, but in Russia it can be watched online.
For some time now, those closest to Mr. Erdoğan have been making some revelations that some might call dirty laundry.
I don't know if these revelations, or I should say allegations, are being investigated by our honorable prosecutors.
However, since they have been confessed by those so close to him, I think there is a possibility that some of these allegations are true. I think it would be useful to at least investigate these allegations.
On the one hand, you will have so many loved ones, and on the other hand, you will be subjected to slander.
You will be exposed to so much filth by those closest to you.
And you will not take the slightest initiative in these matters.
At the very least, if these things are slander, shouldn't you be expected to take those who say these things to court for insulting the president through your lawyers?
Don't your lawyers take anyone who tweets the slightest tweet to court?
Why don't they take those who make these slanders to court?
On the other hand, I think it should also be expected that the prosecutors should at least invite those who are mentioned in these allegations to the prosecutor's office and take their statements about the reality of the allegations.
But unfortunately, I have not yet heard of the slightest attempt by our esteemed prosecutors in this regard.
I have also not heard that the people who are named in the allegations have said no, these are slander and have taken those who made the allegations to court.
Of course, I must say that all these developments really raise questions
Could all this be true?
Could there be a mafia organization at such high levels of the state as alleged?
At the very least, what would someone like Mr. Erdoğan have to do with such people?
Moreover, people who have been so close to him are making revelations, they do not seek to exonerate themselves and they confess the illegal activities they themselves have committed.
Could this be possible?
For some reason, there is silence on the ruling side.
It is really very interesting.

This is what came to my mind while watching Mr. Erdoğan on the screen.
I have to admit, I felt a bit nauseous when I remembered what was said and I immediately switched to another channel.
I think a change is necessary for a clean Turkey.
I don't know how much of these allegations are true.
Maybe these allegations are being thrown around before the elections just to hit the government below the belt.
Maybe the people making these allegations have had some tail pain over time and they are slandering, who knows?
Still, the mind boggles.
How is it that the head of the state can be in contact with such people and be family friends with them?
For the end of this black and dirty system, for a beautiful future, I say make your decision.
Make the right decision so that we can reach the light and transparency together while we have the opportunity.
We owe it to our children, we have to build a beautiful future for our children.
The order that is currently in place scares me a lot.
Yes, I live abroad, but my heart still beats for my country.
It is nice to watch the mafia relations in movies, but in real life, the mafia system is not going to work.
Governing a country is a serious job, it is not a job to be done with such dirty relations.
Let's establish an order where we can look to the future with hope.
Love and respect to everyone from Moscow
