What a seat is this?

My appeal to consciences: Question what you understand by Turkishness—otherwise, the seats will one day be moved, but you will cease to exist. While saying, ‘What's the big deal about a seat, friend...,’ let us now ask ourselves: Is the seat important, or is the nation important?

What a seat, my friend...

A cause that has been distorted, a spine that has been bent, a conscience that has been swallowed, a will that has been broken...

They seem to think that if they sit in that seat a little longer, all the wrongs will be erased.

But even if the people forget, history will never forget.

From Sevr to Chair Bargaining: A Betrayal

In 1919, the Allied Powers sought to mortgage the future of the Turkish nation with the Treaty of Sevr.

Today, the names have changed, but the script remains the same: The AKP–MHP–DEM trio is covering up ideals, merit, and justice for the sake of chairs.

From Incompetence to Lawlessness: Interference in the Lives of the People

Today, the only competence that matters is staying in power.

The incompetent rise while the competent are excluded.

The judiciary is the scale of the powerful; the law is a shield for those in power.

Even state institutions are losing trust due to incompetent practices.

The Cycle of Inflation and Poverty

As of May 2025, Turkey has an inflation rate of between 35% and 36%.

The poverty line rose to 24,210 Turkish lira in February, while the poverty threshold rose to 75,342 Turkish lira—far beyond the minimum wage...

Child labour is also on the rise; many children are reported to be turning to garbage collection and street work instead of attending school.

Unemployment: Not Just Statistics, but Millions Living on the Brink of the Economy

In May 2025, the official unemployment rate rose to 8.4% (it was 7.9% in March). According to DİSK-AR data, the broad definition of unemployment has reached 32.2%.

Broad unemployment among women has reached 40%.

This indicates that millions of people are trapped in a cycle of despair beyond the ‘official’ figures.

Inefficient Production, Drought and Risk of Shortages

The agricultural economy is sounding the alarm.

According to OECD reports, prolonged drought is threatening agricultural production.

Per capita water consumption in Turkey is at a critical level (approximately 1,300 m³), and 73% of this is used for traditional farming methods.

Inefficient water use, combined with drought, poses a risk of famine. Domestic production in industry has almost come to a standstill.

Declining agricultural production, increased dependence on imports in industry…

The result: a weary economy and a hopeless people.

The Nation is in Ruins, the Seat is Secure

In light of these figures, it is clear that:

  • The minimum wage is below the poverty line.
  • The lines of hunger and poverty have risen as high as they can go.
  • Unemployment has gripped millions—young people look to the future not with hope, but with emigration.
  • Agriculture and industry have collapsed, and drought is turning into famine!

However, the political agenda is far removed from this: sharing seats, bargaining tables...

And the people? They are a figure with no agenda, no ownership, only paying bills.

Result: Identity Crisis and the ‘Turkishness’ Threat

This system is not only responsible for economic and legal collapse.

Turkishness is also under attack. Under the guise of ‘Turkishness,’ Turkish identity is being diluted.

Political manipulation is spreading through ethnic and sectarian identities.

This is not a betrayal limited to seats; it is an identity war with deep roots, aimed at weakening the spirit.

I am addressing the youth; now it is your turn to speak:

Take ownership of your future; let your goals be justice, production, merit, and freedom, not seats.

My appeal to consciences: Question what you understand by Turkishness—otherwise, the seats will one day be moved, but you will cease to exist.

While saying, ‘What's the big deal about a seat, friend...,’ let us now ask ourselves:

Is the seat important, or is the nation important?
