Is it possible to live with dignity in the circle of equality and fraternity in our society?
In order to achieve this, it is necessary to eliminate the confusion over the concepts of "state, nation / nation and homeland / homeland". In order to achieve this, it is necessary to eliminate the confusion over the concepts of "state, nation / nation and homeland / homeland". As regulated in Article 9 of the European Convention, we can do this if we can make it a complementary area of freedom of thought, conscience and religion, which are the three basic areas of freedom. If we want to improve our capacity to live together with respect for each individual's dignity, public interest, pluralism and diversity, non-violence and solidarity, we must not offend the social and cultural fabric of individuals.
Looking at the discussions from abroad in the process of writing the new Constitution, if we are to establish a peaceful national system, which we should; In that case, it is not enough to avoid physical torture, which is one of the human rights standards, it is also necessary to avoid verbal, mental and spiritual torture, defamation, in short, cultural violence.
First there was the word
In the science of logic, it is said that the concept is the mental representation of an object/phenomenon. Confusion is actually an indication that minds are also blurred. In this context, it is necessary to define the concepts of "state, nation/nation and homeland/homeland" separately without confusing them. State refers to a legal community. There is a legislative and executive power, and the individuals forming the community submit to this executive power, that is, to the political authority/government. In this sense, the state is the government and the whole of the structures through which the government shows its authority.
The concept of nation/nation, on the other hand, refers to a natural community. At the very least, it emerges as a product of history accepted by each of its members. If some of the members of this community revolt, saying that their demands are not seen in the decisions of the government, that this nation no longer recognizes itself in the state in question. This is the reason for the conflict between the nation and the state. It is also certain that this conflict, which aims to destroy the opportunity to live together in an equal and dignified way, must be resolved urgently.
I say this as a brother of yours who has seen the economic and cultural developments of the country in recent years and the results of democratization efforts that will end with the writing of a new constitution. Since 2003, I have always shared my impressions of the efforts of different languages and races in different parts of the world to settle in one place and live together in an equal and dignified way. I observed how the empire on which the sun never sets in England transformed its experience into a global power. I met our brothers who stayed in Yemen and are now Yemeni, who speak Arabic but never leave their Turkic surname. Now a few of them are relearning their mother tongue in Turkey, they will go back and teach their families, but they will never give up Yemen because it is their homeland.
After Yemen, I went to Macedonia. These days, there is an Albanian and Macedonian problem again. If you say to an Albanian or a Turk, you are Macedonian, what will happen, God forbid. I know what happened and I hope it won't happen again. But none of these brothers deny that they are Macedonians, because it is their homeland. Let's say there is a religion-based distinction here, religious differences are used to justify claims of political sovereignty!
Now I am in Kyrgyzstan. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, where I live now, there is no same religion, same culture, sectarian difference, moreover, there has been great suffering in the region that uses different dialects of the same language. It was repeated in 2010. Our brothers here are making every effort not to experience this pain again, but they are all from Kyrgyzstan and their homeland is here, they cannot be separated. Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tatar, Ahıska Turks, native Oghuz Turks live in beer, because this is their homeland. There are also Russians and Germans, their languages and religions are different, but this was also their homeland and they love their country.
Common Living Area: Dormitory
As can be seen, "Homeland is the emotional name of the nation". The homeland is basically the nation itself in that it is the subject of devotion and exaltation by individuals. Although there is a fine distinction between the concepts of homeland and nation, the intertwining is more obvious. The nation is made up of various ethnic groups living on the same land. A person domesticates this piece of land with his values, makes it a homeland, therefore it is an object of exaltation and devotion. It is the embodiment of a lived value system, which we now call a country, by placing it in the heart.
The common expression of this is language unity. Because the cultural heritage of the nation is carried by language. The subject of exaltation, the expression of nationalizing the land, is language unity. Along with linguistic unity, religious values also come into play, emphasizing that these ethnic differences are blessings and blessings. People are judged on the basis of their choices between good and evil in the world, and whoever does good deeds and acts correctly is the person who will achieve prosperity and peace in this world and prosperity in the hereafter.
Problem:
Well, why is it in the example of England, despite the fact that we culturally carry a multinational, multilingual, multi-religious heritage?
Like, we couldn't create a supra-identity, and the writing of the new constitution got stuck at this point. It was so, because with the periodic disruptions and de facto and post-modern coups in our democratization process, our people were constantly "looked at" by right/left, Alevi/Sunni, secular/religious, Turkish/Kurdish tensions.
Thus, our desire and consciousness to form a nation was constantly blunted, and we could not reinterpret the accumulations of our cultural heritage and reflect it to life. However, “a nation is a soul, a spiritual principle. One foot in the past, one foot in the future. One is to have a rich heritage of shared memories, the other is to be willing to live together today, to desire to live together, to continue to value the heritage inherited from the ancestors. Having common values that we are proud of in the past and doing great things together, having a common will in the time we live in, wanting to do them in the future: These are the basic elements that make up a nation. (TUSIAD; Philosophy, 2002:189-196)
Conclusion:
The unity of state, government, homeland, language and religion may not be enough to form a nation, and an element of conflict may always arise. Dignified Coexistence as Equal Individuals as a Nation is based on desire and consciousness. So the basic thing is to create a plan for today's consent, coexistence. The remembrance of the common past gains meaning only through a project formed with such a desire and consciousness. Homeland is our common value and we have lived here for centuries by transforming our differences into wealth, and we have the consciousness and desire to live. But we cannot do this with introversion and nationalism, which is a caricature of patriotism/nationalism. Because this mentality constantly identifies with a nephrophile structure, earth and death. If we can overcome our complexes and realize our particular/indigenous values by reproducing them in accordance with universal and international standards, we can continue to live together with dignity as equals.
