Who is the Antisemitism Awareness Bill Targeting?

When I travelled to the United States of America (USA) 30 years ago, Jews did not openly declare themselves in public. They held back. However, in the squares of the ‘Jewish Streets’ (J=Jewish Street) of the cities, you would first catch a glimpse of a ‘Kosher’, and then you would see men in black suits and fedora hats, not with their heads covered but with ‘kippahs’, with ‘yarn belts’ around their waists, with their hair hanging over both sideburns, but only here. Ultra-Orthodox Jews, Haredi men, as they were called in Hebrew, would walk around in their black clothes, robes, kippahs and hats, with their ascots and tassels hanging over the edges of their trousers. You may have seen them, they were once indispensable on the side-wheel island ferry in Istanbul. Like in the songs of the tiny sparrow Sezen Aksu. Pointing out that the ‘kipa’, the skullcap they wear on their heads, is a commandment from the Torah during worship, the Haredim say that they wear the kipa in daily life to remind them that God is always on them. When asked, Haredim say that because of the Torah commandment that Jews should not shave the fringes of their hair, some people leave their fringes even longer in order to follow this commandment more strictly. Let's say it by the way. If you do not have a ‘Kosher’ certificate, you cannot sell your products to the Jewish masses, more precisely, it is a compulsory certificate that you must obtain in order to be able to sell products, the ‘Kosher Certificate’. If you do not have this certificate, it is not possible to sell or export food to the USA or Israel, because wholesalers or retailers there, whether Christian or Muslim, will not buy your goods. Firstly, you have to post a ‘Kosher Certificate’ in a visible place in your shop. So, what do you have to do to get a ‘Kosher Certificate’? You need to contact a certification company you can find on the internet, fill out a form, and your business will be inspected by an inspector with a kippah on his head and a white beard. Within a week or two, the auditor will visit your business, after a little formality and a small business inspection, when leaving, ‘everything is fine, we will send your invoice, after you make the payment, the head office will send your certificate. ‘, that is, the total cost: $ 2,000 for about an hour, that is, when you pay 65,000 TL, your certificate is in your pocket. (1) It is that easy, as long as you tell us about the money. It's not like you don't have a question like this:  

‘Brother, what should I say now, why do you want the certificate that you give with 2.000 $ and one visit? Moreover, do you need to be guided by a logo to understand whether dried apricots are halal or not?

Everything changed and developed after the attacks of 11 September 2001 and the Jews became more visible in the USA. This took place in the form of a challenge. More precisely, after the attack on the twin towers, they began to express themselves strongly. 

While Israel's genocidal attacks on Gaza continued, the Palestine Support protests that started in the USA grew wave by wave with a resonant phenomenon and spread throughout the country. 

The protest actions initiated by 70 students at Columbia University on 17 April 2024 spread first across America and then to the whole world. While the protests for Palestine continued at the Columbia University campus, the students formed the driving force of the US resistance reflex and started an intifada all over the country. In other words, in one sense, they used university campuses as a ground. In another sense, the actions symbolise an intifada on campuses. The Rector of Colombia University, who could not prevent the flow of events with his own security forces, applied to the New York Police Department (NYPD) and the police continued to the campus. As the police entered the campus, guns were fired and revolvers exploded at Colombia University, where Pulitzer Prizes were distributed.  Similar protests are ongoing at many universities, from the University of Texas at Austin to the University of California, George Washington University, Harvard University and Emory University in Atlanta. The US security forces, which have created a climate of fear, treat the population indiscriminately, as if they were the Vietcong in the Vietnam War. 

The US House of Representatives voted for the ‘Antisemitism Awareness Bill’ to combat the nationwide protests in support of Palestine. The legislative authority of the US Congress consists of the 438-seat House of Representatives and the 100-seat Senate. The draft law, which received 320 votes against 91 no votes in the vote held with a great participation in the General Assembly of the House of Representatives, reveals a very interesting situation in terms of showing the level of antisemitism in the USA throughout the country. From 6.7 million in 2003, Jews increased to 7.5 million in 2020, reaching 2.4 per cent of the US population. The 2.4 per cent, which largely directs money, has 32 per cent representation in Congress and 25 per cent visibility in the judiciary. This is why this draft law makes it clear that Jews cannot be criticised. 

The so-called Jewish ‘Antisemitism Awareness Act’ requires the Ministry of Education to adopt the definition of antisemitism adopted by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) and to define events in universities accordingly. The definition of antisemitism adopted by the IHRA virtually forbids the use of any negative expression in the same sentence with Jews. According to the definition, ‘making false, inhuman, demonic or stereotypical allegations about Jews or the power of Jews collectively’ is considered an offence. For example, ‘Jews run the media, the economy, the government or other social institutions’ is an offence according to the definition. Claiming that the existence of the Jewish state is a racist endeavour is also labelled antisemitic. It cannot even be said that Israel causes mass deaths. (3)

The ‘Antisemitism Awareness Bill’ is, in a sense, a bill that rejects the Bible, to put it mildly, an anti-Biblical bill. Matt Gaetz, a member of the House of Representatives, made a statement before the vote on the bill, pointing out that the voted bill contradicts the Bible.  As is well known, the Bible contains ‘allegations that the Jews killed Jesus’. When the draft law is analysed in its entirety, the offence generalisations can be summarised as follows:

1. Saying that the Jews killed Jesus Christ, 

2. Saying that the State of Israel is racist. 

3. Claiming that the United States favours Israel. 

4. Claiming that Jews ‘control the media and politics’. 

5. likening Israeli policies to Nazi policies, 

6. Accusing Jews of ‘fabricating or exaggerating the Holocaust’.  

7. blaming Jews for Israel's actions 

8. Accusing Jews of being ‘more loyal to Israel than to their country of citizenship’. 

Brother, you are a US citizen, but you favour Israel more. This is not a crime because you are Jewish. You live in Turkey and you are a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, but you favour Russia, that is not a crime.  

As Gaetz, a member of the House of Representatives, has pointed out, not only is the Antisemitism Awareness Bill absurd, but its constitutionality is also questionable. This is because all bills that come before Congress must comply with the Constitution and must not prohibit free thought. Let us now examine this issue, dear readers. 

The supreme law of the United States, as in all democratic countries, is the Constitution, which is a general organising law, consisting of a preamble, 7 articles and 27 amendments, and which sets out the structure of the higher organisation.  The Constitution establishes a federal system by dividing power between the national and state governments. At the same time, it creates a balanced national government by dividing power between three independent bodies - the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. The executive branch, i.e. the President, enforces national laws; the legislative branch, i.e. Congress, makes laws; and the Supreme Court and other federal courts decide cases pending in federal courts by interpreting and applying the laws. The Supreme Court has the final authority to interpret the Constitution. The Supreme Court may strike down a law - federal, state or local - that conflicts with any part of the Constitution. The task of finalising all proposals and resolutions of the Constitution in the parliamentary committees is entrusted to Governor Morris, who is of Jewish origin. In other words, Morris was the de facto ‘author’ of the Constitution. An original copy of the document is kept in the National Archives Building in Washington D.C. I would like to share with you what I have seen on the spot of this important document. 

‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting free worship; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or abridging the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.’ (4)

If this bill, in its current form, passes the Senate, is approved by the President and enters into force, even the falsity of this parable in Genesis, which I believe to be one of the indicators of the falsification of the Torah, will be questioned. This is tantamount to committing shirk: 

When the Prophet Jacob was returning to Canaan from his uncle's side, he met a man in the desert and wrestled with him until dawn. Although Jacob said, ‘Let me go,’ the person he wrestled with did not let him go, and later that person said to Jacob, ‘From now on, you will not be called Jacob, but Isrâîl (Jews: the one who wrestles with God). For you wrestled with God and with men and defeated them.’ (Genesis, 32/22-32) (2)

The four veto decisions of the US on behalf of Israel at the UN in the last seven months have provoked reactions even from its most loyal allies. For example, in the run-up to the draft resolution on Palestine's full membership of the UN on 19 April 2024, the US pressured its allies Ecuador, Japan and South Korea to reject the resolution, but in vain.

Suffice it to say, dear readers, that a path has been paved, as Ann Wright, a US citizen, a former soldier and diplomat, said, and all humanity will join her in shouting these words:

‘I am ashamed of the United States. Its protection of Israel no matter what crimes it commits is a disgrace.’ (5)
